SantiSuk
According to the above "non-Thais who have been permitted to reside in Thailand" are given a shot at getting into the country. I'm guessing that the definition they will use for residence is more onerous than the ThaiRev (thai tax authority) test of residence - "an individual is regarded as a tax resident if he/she resides in Thailand at one or more times for an aggregate period of 180 days or more in any tax year" (PwC Thailand Tax Booklet) Were tax residence to be acceptable I don't doubt there are many falang out there 'stranded abroad' who normally live here full-time (indeed I have two mates in that situation) some of whom would be prepared to meet the financial and time burdens of returning and reoccupying the houses they have kept financed for the last 4 months. I'm guessing the true acceptable test of residence is more akin to Permanent Residence. Anyone know?

Note: The Medical Insurance which covers Covid-19 is a single policy. But, I suppose you could hold your regular health insurance and also obtain travel insurance (if you can find one) which would provide you with a Certificate of Cover stating Cover for Covid-19 up to US$100,000 If you or your Son are Thai this insurance is not required. 3

"Health Insurance covering Covid19 at least 100,000 us dollars" This is exactly the quote from an e-mail from the Thai Embassy UK - they were very clear that the Health Insurance must cover treatment for Covid-19 up to (or greater) than US$100,000.

The best thing you can do is e-mail the Thai Embassy in Kathmandu and ask them if they are processing Certificate of Entry applications for repatriation to Thailand and if there are any repatriation flights. https://www.thaiembnepal.org.np/?do=services&index=visa If so, what are the requirements and can you meet them? (e.g.. Non-Immigrant Type B Visa (or extension) and Work permit holder, Spouse of a Thai with a Marriage Certificate, or parent of a Thai Child and you are listed on the Birth Certificate: Note). The same with travel insurance, if it's covered of course. If not, where do you find COVID-specific insurance?

Do you know whether the USD100K insurance policy document needs to specifically state "Covid-19"? It is a bit confusing because I have read elsewhere that insurance covering only Covid-19 is insufficient whereas the requirement is for medical insurance "including" Covid-19. In my case, I have a policy from Pacific Cross with coverage of USD1M/year and nil exclusions. I have read through the Policy Document and there is no mention of Covid-19, epidemics, pandemics etc. so presumably it is covered but would an embassy/consulate accept that or would they require a separately issued Certificate specifically mentioning Covid-19? Popular Post rct99q
Just arrived in Thailand from a flight coordinated by the Thai Consulate in Vancouver. Both the airline (ANA) and all the Thai Officials upon arrival in Bangkok went through my paper work thoroughly. They did indeed look for wording that Covid-19 was covered in the health insurance. They needed to see a hard copy of the COE, ASQ confirmed reservation, Fit to Fly document, covid19 free lab test (must be nasal swab, not throat swab and test result needs to state that) Check in time was double normal, and my paper work must have been checked by at least 3 or 4 people even before seeing an immigration officer in Bangkok. I did speak with at least three people in Vancouver who were denied boarding as they did not have a valid covid-19 test done within the 72 hours of departure. There was one person who did arrive that did not have a confirmed reservation at an ASQ hotel. No fault of his own, he tried to use his credit card but the hotel said it failed. Anyway after a few minutes some of the Thai ground handlers had it all settled out and he was sent off. So as confusing as things may be, so far have found the Thai people very helpful in getting things fixed. 4

Popular Post Greg O
Word of warning unless it's a family emergency don't attempt to come until unrestricted international flights resume. The ASQ scheme is a disaster and grossly overpriced. The repatriation flights are grossly overpriced. The hotels that you think you have paid for will be utilized at the discretion of the authorities on arrival, they are routinely switching to sub standard hotels in other locations at their discretion. And they are extending quarantine days (sometimes up to 30 days at their discretion) guess who pays for that ? Nothing is in accordance with any protocols or current WHO or CDC guidelines. They're just fleecing us. 4 2 1

Popular Post meechai
To be honest we have no intention of going to our Thai home for our usual 3 months this year but that aside... Even if we wanted to the hurdles are too high ...for the reward The three that are tough? 1-Most states it is not easy to get a covid test without symptoms & rightfully so But even if you did...getting a doctor a real doctor to sign off on some kind of open guarantee within 72 hours of flight? Good Luck 2- Travel insurance with $100,000 USD coverage? No problem I always buy 500k coverage but....None here are covering Covid risks So that means buying Thai which afaik is yearly only 3- The 14 day quarantine in some hotel in Thailand? 30-60,000 baht? Nah pass we have a beautiful home & would not want to fly so many hours to then be in some hotel room in Thailand Throw in the fact that you need to coordinate all these hurdles & reservations & hope not one hiccup occurs & causes it all to collapse or worse get trapped in Thailand should they shut the borders again My guess is most folks/yearly part time Thailand residents will think roughly the same & give it a pass this year Good Luck Thailand hopefully it does not affect you too much 3
