Reporters from Thai media 77khaoded went to the Kabinburi district of Prachinburi province after reports that two wild elephants were seen in the village of Khao Din.

The locals said they felt the visit of the pachyderms honored their village and they were not scared. But they feared the elephants, a mother and child, might come to harm.

Local leaders were mobilized and later on Thursday night/Friday morning the pair were seen near a hotel in the Nonsri area.

Their movements were monitored until about 3 am when the elephants disappeared down a lonely soi into the woods.

They are believed to have strayed out of the Khao Ang Rue Nai wildlife sanctuary.
