richard_smith237 Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Ok.., so quarantine is doing it’s job. But, she arrived 2 weeks ago... so tested positive on the ASQ day 12 test??? In her shoes I’d be asking for another test to make sure this wasn’t a false positive. Maybe she picked it up on the flight amongst Thai’s who are not tested??? Have they tracked & traced all the People she was sat near on the flight, as they all have left quarantine today? 1
Popular Post TallGuyJohninBKK Posted August 4, 2020 Popular Post Posted August 4, 2020 I wonder what category of entry under the current farang entry rules this particular 33-year-old Russian woman would have been able to enter the country? 4
crazykopite Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 I am at a loss as to why Thais are not tested before a flight it could be one of them carrying the virus funny how they don’t seem to be infected only farangs 1
Bender Rodriguez Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 yes, why or how was she allowed into the country ? -professional- something ? 1

As much as I’d love to offer some confirmation bias of unequal reporting to support the double standards of not testing Thai’s prior to flight whereas all non-Thais have to have a Covid-19 test, there isn’t any here.

You mean, how is it possible that a ‘woman’ was allowed in? I’m not sure what you are getting at, there are lots of ways people have been granted re-entry to Thailand. The insinuation that because she is Russian and female she must be ‘professional something’ - Hooker? is rather misogynistic. How is someone allowed into Thailand while its under Emergency Decree ???? Lots of ways. Type O Visa (based on Marriage to a Thai or being the Parent of a Thai Child), Education Visa, or Work Permit. 1 1
Scott Tracy Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 11 groups of Thais and Non-Thais are permitted entry into Thailand, according to TAT website: https://www.tatnews.org/2020/08/caat-issues-its-3rd-notification-on-conditions-for-aircraft-permission-to-enter-thailand/ 10 of them refer to Non-Thais and this Russian lady would obviously have fallen into one of these categories. It shows that isolation, quarantine and testing works. Even if it is later confirmed as a false positive. Better than a false negative....

All of those above reasons don't usually fit the typical 30-something Russian woman visiting Thailand IME.... Of course any of them are technically possible... just not seemingly very likely. Any legal work that most Russians likely would be doing in Thailand probably isn't exactly prospering/booming right now with the dearth of (Russian and other) tourists. Embassy staff possible, but the odds of that would seem pretty slim...

mbenson Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 OK, so she is in ASQ facility? Due to the long time that it took for her to develop a positive test, one would think she caught it in Thailand. However, is if she has been shut up in her room and otherwise limited in the places she can go, how could she have caught it? Someone mentioned that it could be a false positive. Good explanation. Otherwise, I find this to be a bit strange. 1

The flights are meant to get them home, sick or not. Some are sick and infect others. The point being is that the Government is sympathetic to their plight and making the necessary steps to get them home. Sadly, it puts others at risk. The foreigners are allowed to come, too, on these flights, but must accept the risk...
