The International Air Transportation Association, or IATA, said global air traffic will not return to pre-pandemic levels until 2024.

You have to wonder how the Thai economy will hold up the next couple years?

Thanks, I'll pass that info onto a colleague.

He arrived Thai Air, had his return flight cancelled in April, with his latest departure set for Nov 6th.

According to that article, it will be middle of next year before their operational again.

On principal he refuses to book and pay for a different airline.

After Sept 26th, a few days in IDC may change his mind.

It's interesting they mention the meddling by the Thai Air Force in the management of the airline and the intransigence of the employee union as being major factors in the collapse of the carrier...things that are only hinted at by the Thai press.

It will not be good enough to bring in international style management to this airline, they must bring in Western aviation professionals to manage the airline day to day, unobstructed and unfettered.  Of course they will not do that.   Thais are quite incapable of solving their own political and structural problems to run it successfully.  The incompetence runs too deep. They know little and care less about the international scene within which Thai operates and they don't understand or appreciate the aniline industry.  There was a very good reason why a great many Asian airlines, bar Thai of course, once employed Western CEOs,  COOs  and senior managers for many years as they developed, many still do so.  It is the same with their airport management and probably in other industry sectors that operate internationally, including their Military.   Others have learnt the lessons that only international experience can give.  I have absolutely no doubt that Thai will be white washed and nothing much will charge. It will continue to suck up public money forever.
