Why did you not know BEFORE the fact? It has been said so many times here on TV about 2 months before and three months after, down to 400k for 7 months then back to 800. Sorry, your own fault.

Perhaps he hasn't read any visa threads before. It's not compulsory. Had I read the divorce threads I'd never have married a Thai woman, but I only read them after my divorce.

The last two extensions immigration at Jomtien (Pattaya) have given me a letter reminding me of my requirements re the 800K. It states that I have to come back in 3 months with an updated bankbook, photocopies of passport inside cover, plus copy of the latest visa stamp, also copies of inside cover and last updated page of bankbook. So (for me) there's no excuse, and to make sure I don't forget I add it to my calendar reminders.

As I said-We (thai girlfriend and me) spent a lot of time with the immigration officer, taking notes and making sure we understood the renewal guidelines. Unfortunately, they didn’t include the 3 months after in their written guidelines. As for not knowing because it was posted so many times thai visa forum-I generally get some snarky, unhelpful comment, like your comment, which makes me want to steer clear of asking any questions or reading tv.

I've found the safest course is to park 800K baht in the bank, and forget about it. If I ever leave Thailand, I'll make a tidy profit on the exchange rate. The AUD was 29 baht when I brought the funds over.

IMO the OP will find it a lot cheaper to pay the 25K than attempt to redo the retirement visa.

They even made a small change …., on the date they put now "after" , probably meaning can be days of more after by circumstances .

But beware as this proves they do check , so nothing stops them by occasion to use by surprise moment that Harry Potter magic stick " by I.O. can ask any documents …. etc …"

Same for me as I got that time from Kasikorn even 47.50 / €  approx.  So for me my € may stay low as I am eating my planned buying condo money  by changed plan , no sad  transfers needed . And 2022 I am out of here

You've been treated very badly and they simply don't care at all.

In fact I think it makes them happy when something like this happens, this rule was introduced for one reason only - to discourage and deter people from staying in Thailand.

When there's nobody left it will be mission accomplished, they're getting there much quicker than I had anticipated due to COVID.

Immigration offices are requiring to see bank records going back to the last extension. Not rocket science.

I asked the poster for a reason.....

Have you still got that checklist? Maybe if you produced it and demonstrated it was the (other) IOs omission, they'd relent?

That will never happen.

My comment was not meant to be snarky. It stated the truth.

That doesn't stop some people to marry four times to find out that it was a mistake. Learning by doing.

Ignorance of the rule or law is no excuse.

Especially in a foreign country.

This thread as often is the norm on thaivisa. The OP was correctly answered by the above post. That was post #1.

The next 3 pages has been clap trap.

actually if you already have a non o, it will cost ya 14,000 for a 1 year extension.

No you did not.

You asked HOW.

Nothing about a reason.

Your words--

Could I ask how they determined this?

Yes he has a current permission of stay (extension) so it will be less than 25k.

In any event the OP needs to deal with agent. He did not mention when his current POS ends.

Even if OP goes thru an agent now and pays 25,000, I doubt they will have time to complete the transaction. My wife and I have in process a retirement visa from Sep 4 and while I received back my passport last week, she still has not. I have friends who’ve gone thru the process with an agent who got their passports back in 2+ weeks - sadly this has not been my experience. While I’m sure the OP is hopeful and many here are offering their less than stellar advice, I think it will be impossible for him/her to complete the transaction before 9/26.

Did you have a non o in place. The OP already is on extension. The agent does not need to obtain that. In fact, agent just covering the money in bank requirement.

I'm certainly no agent expert. Never used one. Some people are using agents for retirement that entered on tourist visa or visa exempt.

The OP is on a visa extension which is expiring. The ending of the amnesty doesn't apply to him.

I am/was on amnesty and I don’t plan on using an agent again.

I had to provide my up-dated bank books, a print out of my bank activity from the date of my last retirement visa and a letter from the bank certifying my bank balance was 800,000+ baht. From the bank book and bank statement they could see I had not maintained 800,000 for the required 3 months after the visa was isssued.

Thanks, much appreciated..... supplying a printout of activity from the last extension is the extra requirement I am concerned of. I use Jomtiem and was hoping my regularly updated passbook(s) would verify things to their satisfaction.

Do other countries have this sort of requirement   i.e.  800K for x amount of time and then a minimum of 400K ?

So precisely when did you obtain said checklist from Chiang Khan then? Before 1st March 2019 when the change was made, maybe??
