Dart12 Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 Nice touch Pattaya. Move everyone....AND give a fake scarcity number of people you can serve in a day. Arrived at 8am, its 9am and told to go home. They won't serve anyone else. The VISA educated...where else can we go today and get this completed today? She is on tourist visa, has 30 day ext left, and have embassy letter for covid extension if needed. Residence in Pattaya. Can do a 1 day vacay at a hotel if absolutely necessary. 3 1
audaciousnomad Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 I think Bangkok can handle more. I was there yesterday, and they even worked through lunch hour to process, I was in and out in 90 minutes! 1
DrJack54 Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 OP, would Rayong immigration be an option. Just bumping your thread. Perhaps someone dealing with Rayong could advise. 1
mtls2005 Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 I've got to believe that they'll continue to process extensions past the 26th, assuming there remains people unprocessed. 1

They will continue to process of course. But they also will collect any overstay penalties due at the time you apply. (500baht/day beyond 26-Sept). Also, as an overstay, you may not get 30 days. Could possibly only get 7 days and instructed to leave ASAP. It's precarious to wait until after 26th! 4 1

I also doubt that others will honor your holding your spot by leaving you bag or shoes and finding a shady spot to wait.

There were those who previously wasted their 'one off' 30/60 day applications by applying to early beforehand. 2
audaciousnomad Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 I couldn't find the post, but I read somewhere that Bangkok Counter K was accepting 800/day in their appointment system. This could be a plan B for those that do not want to deal with the smaller offices. You can book your appointment online, no need to go to the office the day before to get make a reservation. 2

Don't people know how to read? Because the part of the Thai government who would issue an extension never said they won't extend it again. Because IOs didn't listen to the Immigration Bureau and started extensions on the day they were applied for instead of the 27th. Maybe they don't know how to read though. These are just two reasons for what's happening now With the data which Immigration has they can make a quite precise estimate as to how many people will show up. Why didn't they prepare themself properly? 3 1

I am being surprised by the numbers that have done. Good luck to you all. Yeah and no. We were there once last week and had a missing doc. Plus, there were grumbles they were stamping the present day instead of the 27thh (even though there were signs saying it would be stamped the 27th). Now we have everything ready. Heard of no problems getting them approved.. But who would think that they'd LIMIT the visas given? We figured worse case scenario is waiting all day in line. And even then...didn't think that was a high possibility because there are so few tourists left. AND, they moved everyone to a big facility (with my thoughts that they were being prepared to handle crowds.) The assumption is the office would work a full day and clear as many as possible. Phuket has even said thhey'll open saturday and stay open all day until all visas are granted. But Pattaya? ...They did 100 in 2 hours and called it a day. 1 2

Likely it is the limit they are capable of processing each day, or a deliberate attempt to stop the place being swamped (as if everyone would communicate to each other). Be interesting to know if a few more staff would improve that, or there is other reasons..... Off topic but the Taliban and ISIS had some scary use for stadia!!

The 60 days extension yes, unless they change the Police Order, but the 30 day based on Embassy letter or Medical is or can be ongoing. 1

The regular (without embassy letter) 30 day extension is a one off. Also even if it's about an extension with an embassy letter: If somebody went to apply for such an extension on Monday, but on Tuesday they would have decided to extend the amnesty, this person would have wasted 1900THB and two trips to immigration. 2 1 1

Nobody said there will be an amnesty. These people gambled and have to accept that they have made the wrong decision. Nobody else is to blame. 3 2

Dart12 Posted September 24, 2020 Author Posted September 24, 2020 Who's got a bored, reliable friend that wants to camp out tonight for some $$$?
mtls2005 Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 I guess they took an extra 20 today, after processing the first 100.

david555 Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 That is now the result to use the "wait until the last days option ".....as Dutch embassy already gave warning no amnesty extension would be given anymore by immigration to their compatriots ... 1
TheFreqFlyer Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 I can think of a few nearby provinces - Chachoengsao (normally pretty quiet, despite proximity to Bangkok), Rayong and a bit further afield, Chantaburi or Saraburi. I would get in the car and immediately choose one of these locations should you be rejected again tomorrow. Many locations appear to be open on Saturday too, but I wouldn't count on all offices doing so. 2
