A memorable event! A thousand female hopefuls vie for 15 positions as border rangers

Thai media Daily News said it was a historical event when around 1000 Thai women turned up at a military base in Pattani in Thailand's troubled far south. 

 

The ladies were at Fort Ingkhayut to apply for just 15 jobs as border rangers.

 

They came from many backgrounds all over Thailand and included bachelor and master's degree graduates. 

 

There were teary eyed mothers seeing off their daughters - proud but at the same time concerned for their offsprings' safety.

 

For many the possibility of a job in the army as a ranger was a dream.

 

One such person was Nathachanok, 29, from Khon Kaen.

 

She came with her dad and said she had dreamed of being in the army. 

 

After getting a degree in industrial engineering she had worked in Korat to pay off her debts. Now she has resigned in order to switch careers.

 

She believed that she could bring her compassionate female attributes to the job and help people more than a man.

 

She wasn't scared about the potential task ahead and was interested in doing her duty for her country.

Might want to ask for your resignation letter back, don't think the army does "compassion"

strange career choice, do rangers get a percentage of the drug dealer's stach/money they catch or something ?
