For those whingers, what about all of us that did our extensions in March and have religiously done 90 day reports...I don't feel I am worse or better off as it's what is required normally. It’s not about the 90 day repetition, it’s about the people on multiple entries who may have unnecessarily used up an extension. Do you understand the difficulty of leaving Thailand and coming back at the moment? Unless there’s yet another amnesty in October, I’ll have to leave the country, leaving my wife, who has a 5 sometimes 6 day a week job, to take care of my 5 year old son, who I usually take to and pick up from school, for at least 20 days, probably more, at immense expense, when I’ve had a perfectly legal and problem free visa up to now, and just because of the lack of foresight of the stupid authorities. Thanks for the empathy and understanding. 10 1
Popular Post edogthong
This is not just about the people originally on Tourist visas. What about all those on non immigrant visas who had planned to leave the country to renew their visa? Most of them have not been given a valid option. I'm getting sick of people telling others to sort their visas out since they've had 6 months to do so. That's not true for alot of people. Some are retired on a non OA visa and can't afford to upgrade to the O visa. Others have work permits from smaller businesses where they'd normally have to border bounce but can't. Upgrading their company to pay an artificially higher tax rate with all other fees accompanied with that isn't an option for them. Especially without tourists to support their business. The obvious solution would be to issue all visas within the country. The immigration offices are already there. Issue all visas in Thailand and keep it that way forever! 11

Or will that paid extension roll over, commencing 01 November? holy cow cm
I thought Barrow was on his way out of here himself due to some rumpled feathers somewhere. Anyway until this CV19 situation is worked out and the proper way initiated for having the tourist go home, this is good news as long as they have money to survive without handouts. If there are so many, they may come up with a queue system that only allows booking a slot at least a few days later, and with 500 baht per day, and this not published by Wednesday at the earliest, there would already be a minimum 5 days (2500 baht) overstay penalty for anyone who hasn't extended by 26 September. Also if anyone gets stopped before Wednesday and passport checked, since amnesty is not yet in place again, that person could still be detained in IDC and deported. I think it's time for Thailand to increase overstay fines to 20,000 baht per day and scrap the maximum fine limit. Nobody takes that "You must leave by" stamp seriously. Has anyone tried to overstay like this in a Western country? Or just go to border and back for another month? How did that go? Yep, seems like they intentionally did it this way to get as much $ in by the 26th. I went onto a retirement extension, and don't really regret it as it's done now. As they say, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Everything they do is last minute knee jerk reactions every time, they could not run a p++s up in a brewery. Of course. It has to be the governments fault that so many with their head in the sand left it to the last minute. This statement puts the attitude in a nutshell , too much trouble doing what is required. "However, news of the expected visa amnesty extension will come too late for some as many foreigners who had been staying in Thailand under the amnesty have already gone to the trouble of extending their visa and paying the 1,900 baht fee. Many more will have already left Thailand.. " 4 2

cedward88
Fingers crossed this happens for everyone who is facing difficulty. I myself am waiting to change to a great new job I've been offered. Trouble is, its no longer a teaching job and the company is registered in another province. So Its extremely difficult - if not impossible to navigate the complexity. Ive contacted 10-15 visa agencies about it but none will take up this seemingly impossible task. I don't really have an easy option to switch. So having this amnesty eases some of the anxiety!

Thinking about it, the extended amnesty won’t be valid until the Cabinet approves it (unless they hold a special meeting will be Tuesday) & I believe it doesn’t become law until it’s published in the Royal Gazette on Friday. So anybody who’s currently on overstay might want to keep their heads down for a few days.

And people who paid 1900 Baht for an extension or did everything to fly back home in the end got punished for believing them. 4

There's no reason to think they're going to suddenly do this now.
