I've never been more embarrassed for the US than during this debate, when the bloated, serial lying, racist, misogynist, bone spurs coward grifter lowered the reputation of a once great country deeper into the sewer. The 'clown' actually encouraged his miscreant base to engage in violence. Facebook is already full of his 'people' (sic) excited that he gave them the green light.

The drift toward autocracy by one as sociopathic as 45 is, but who fortunately is too incompetent to achieve his goal, is sadly supported by people ignorant of the Constitution as well as democracy. This election is not about policy differences, it is literally good vs evil, with 45 and his ilk the epitome of Hannah Arendt's 'the banality of evil'.

Those whining about antifa---which is not an organization---might want to look at reports produced by both the Dept of Homeland Security and the FBI which state that over 75% of all domestic terrorism since 9-11 was perpetrated by white supremacist groups like proud incels boys, boogaloo boys and far-right militias who can't go to Dunkin Donuts without feeling the need to take an AR-15.

Those of us 45 calls 'suckers and losers' have experience dealing with threats like these bloated proud little boys, who are nothing compared to the jihadis .  Best those boys stick to Call of Duty and fantasy.

Calm down. You're a bit over the top. Bad for your health.

Trump spewed thousands of lies during his tenure, in fact most of the times his lips moved it were lies, so I guess the video is just one of those events

Presidential debate: How the world's media reacted

Die Welt said the debate had revealed very little about policy. "Most importantly, it showed that America has a president whose behaviour stands out and who lacks self-control - but that's not exactly news," it wrote.

What an absolute chit show on the part of trump it proves money can’t buy class or intelligence his refusal to denounce white supremacy and telling them to stand by his inability to refute and offer workable alternatives to Biden’s ideas the best he could do was try to out shout and slander to me it just reinforces all the reasons trump is unsuited unfit and down right dangerous to be potus time to get rid of this parasite vote him out!!

KATU News reached out to Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell, We have yet to hear back from any of them.

Since there isn't a portland sheriff  as such,(multnomah county sheriff)  Its very likely he meant the Portland police chief!

"...Its very likely he meant..."

I think it's an even toss between this and covfefe.

Seriously now - back when, Trump supporters made a big deal about how Trump is a straight shooter, a guy telling it like it is. Lost track of the times they have to scramble coming up with interpretations as to what he meant. That is, until his flip-flops, and an alternate interpretation/narrative needs to be applied.

Constantly reposting the video link will not change the fact of trump's reply in the debate concerning a far-right armed group.

They will just deny it.  That's their only response to everything now even when it's on live tv.  These people were NEVER interested in reality or facts.  These are single issue people and most of the time it revolves around their racism and the fact they are just really horrible people at down to the core.

If there is a silver lining about this guy, it's that he has brought a lot of these people out into the open. He makes them think that it's ok to show the world what horrible people they really are.

A marvelous demonstration of American isolationism.

If I had a dollar for every time Trump interrupted Biden during this debate, I would have more money than trump paid in income tax.

One of the times he interrupted Biden talking about his dead son in order to call the one that is still alive a deadbeat.

The only time trump shut up was when he was asked to denounce white supremacists.

You're right, and it illuminates the course America will be set on if Trump wins. Isolationism.

I see parallels with the Roman Empire. It too was the pre-eminent military power of its time. It started to withdraw its reach after the defeat of Varus's legions in the Teutoburg forest, on ground suited to Arminius's tactics. Took another two centuries for the Roman Empire to fall. Still had the military might, fell because of the rot within.

Santayana said those who forget history are condemned to repeat it. He's right too.

I don't think that these debates will change many peoples minds, they have already decided who they will vote for.  Trump supporters never listen to any arguments against their idol, dubbing it all fake news as instructed by the orange one.

The debate itself was a disgrace but that was only to be expected.  These people are the contenders for what was once, the most important job in the world.  Not anymore as the USA continues to sink into the sewer that Trump presides over.  But this appears to be the best that America can come up with. A burnt out old man and a misogynistic lying conman.

I might have to disagree with the "burnt out old man" descriptor, and he certainly has energetic and, IMO, capable backup.

"A burnt out old man..." Burnt out? Says who, Trump team propaganda? Biden is old alright and may be lacking of stamina (as some have suggested) but you can't be burnt out and run a campaign trail at the same time. Fortunately wisdom usually comes with age (though not a sure thing, just look at Biden's opponent) and lacking stamina or not, he's got quite a dream team to support him. By his sides are two don't mess with me women:

wife Jill ready to tackle any protestor who got too close for comfort,

and low-mileage running mate Kamala Harris who made William Barr trickle in his pants (signaled by rapid eye-blinking) on the House floor.

This is serious. We need to do something....

Otter: We need to do something.

Boon: We do.

Otter: You know what we need to do?

Otter and Boon: Toga party.

(Animal House, couldn't find an exact short clip).

As for Santayana, to apply TrumpLogic....

So interesting to see 'progressive' Democrat philosopher, who originally came from a country whose government is a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why doesn't he go back and help fix the totally broken and crime-infested place from which he came. Then come back and show us how it is done.

If you can watch that debate and still defend Trump you really need to take a long, hard look in the mirror.

He lied from start to finish about everything from his health plan, to taxes, to things others had said (trying to pin the super predator comment on Biden for example). Wouldn't let Biden speak. He kept trying to paint policies that weren't his on him, including continually trying to point to the Green New Deal, and to Medicare for All, neither of which Biden supports. He refused to denounce the Proud Boys and told them to "stand by". He continually attacked Biden's son with what was largely lies, even when Biden was talking about his other son. He brought up a conspiracy theory that his DNI released earlier that day about Hillary Clinton which was Russian propaganda that even the republican senate intelligence committee rejected as propaganda and refused to acknowledge... but they released it anyway hours before the debate so he could say that. A leaked email went out to his entire mailing list that was intended for Jared claiming victory in the debate and saying how the "fake news media" would not acknowledge it, HOURS BEFORE THE ACTUAL DEBATE HAD EVEN HAPPENED!

It was embarrassing. But really it shouldn't be surprising. It's been four years of this.

Beyond Trump is also pretty much collapses the narrative that he and Fox have been pushing for months that Biden is a senile old man. He was far sharper than Trump. He knew the facts. I felt like he lost his cool at a couple of points, and the stutter will always be an issue for him but he handled it well given the circumstances.

It's also unfair to blame Wallace's moderating. I don't think there was anything he could have done. I think they need to be able to mute microphones in the upcoming debates. Otherwise they will all turn into this same circus. And that's what Trump wants. He doesn't have actual policy. He has general ideas and he uses the circus to distract from that. Like Hannity cutting to a car chase.

You gotta wonder why wallace didn't ask him why his parties  acceptance speech didn't  mention once about the riots and looting!

Wallace asked Trump if he would condemn the white supremacists.  Trump didn't.

Wallace asked Biden if he would condemn the rioting.  Biden condemned all law breaking.

It was a rare example of a Fox News journalist being fair and balanced, and shows why Trump hates Wallace.

This is the video of the question.  I believe I hear Trump said "Sure" 3 times

He said he was willing to do that, but didn't do that.  Instead he told the Proud Boys to "Stand back and stand by."

With the exception an early post that seems to have been deleted, I don't think I've read any post attempting to defend that clear and appalling statement.

Everyone you mentioned is a FBI asset and a fringe movement. They are no threat to America or the free world. Unlike AntiFa/BLM who are burning down our cities as we speak.

I am a white person. And that statement is ridiculous. The majority of white people are not racists. There are certainly a reasonable number who are though. I have family in five states. And I'd be lying to you if I said that the mid-west family was not racist. They don't consider themselves racist, but they clearly are. I've heard racism in my own family. And I'd guess most of us here have. And I don't even fully blame the people who are racist, if you hold racist views so long as you aren't intentionally doing something to negatively affect other people, I don't care what a person believes. Racism is one of those things that will be solved over generations.

My grandmother once told me that she wasn't racist. She had a black friend who she played bingo with. She would talk to her. She liked her. She just didn't want her sitting next to her, or touching her. That was an obviously racist statement. Each generation it gets better as people become more integrated, and in another hundred years or two we'll all be some shade of tan. But to try to pretend that it doesn't exist is being completely dishonest. I loved my grandma and understand that she grew up in a different time and this was embedded in her as a child. And honestly in most cases that's where the racism begins. People have this embedded in them as children, just like religion and they need to make a conscious and concerted effort to change their beliefs. But pretending that it isn't happening is not the solution. The solution is to demonstrate why it is wrong.

And regarding the FBI: https://www.politico.com/news/2020/09/04/white-supremacists-terror-threat-dhs-409236
