Bear in mind Thailand's lese majeste laws also include insulting foreign heads of state, unless they took that part out when I wasn't looking....

His role is partly symbolic and important to the morale of the nation, so, he does not have the option to hide in a basement.

Whatever you may think of him personally, he and his wife caught this virus while doing the job that America asked them to do. They deserve better than the nasty, politically-driven narrative that Trump is personally responsible for the pandemic and that the Democrats would somehow have handled things better.

With the technology and resources available to him he does not need to travel and mix with large numbers of people; it is a personal choice.

I agree his role is important to the morale of the nation; sadly he only thinks it is important to one part of it.  He does have the option to hide in a basement, better yet, a very well equipped bunker which he has already inspected and has used before.

He and his wife caught the virus doing a job that he wanted to do; America selected him from a choice of two and his opponent won the popular vote but not the electoral college.

He is not personally responsible for the pandemic but he is totally responsible for the response (Truman - the buck stops here).

I cannot stand him as a person but I wish him well for his recovery.

The official reasoning for wearing  a mask was to protect OTHERS from the potential infection the wearer might have. NOT the other way around. So it's disingenuous to say that Trump got infected because he wasn't wearing a mask. This is backwards from the medical advice.

To some extent yes.  A mask does lessen the risk to the wearer because it is capable of filtering out some of the droplets that carry the virus.   I actually read an analysis of this which gave a % of reduction, but I don't recall the amount.   The two things to remember is it will reduce the droplets a wearer inhales and will reduce the amount of virus inhaled, which makes a big difference in how sick a person becomes.

Here is a suitable campaign slogan Trump can use: Only Weakling Losers Get The China Flu

Damn! Now Kelly Anne got the 'Rona!

Off-topic, troll posts and replies removed.

Karma is a bitch and it might bite back at any time.

He's far from alone in this case , but since he's a president and leader of a big country , he's been watched big time . This will certainly lead to a safer (corona free ) world soon.

"Told you so" says nothing about Trump.  It only speaks to the character of the authors.  Get well, Mr President.

If he had taken this pandemic more seriously, had himself worn a mask, imposed the same to his supporters, instead of playing the arrogant macho, he might not be where he is now. By making short shrift of the protection measures he has indirectly contributed to the circulation of the virus. Hubris may be his downfall. Don't expect sympathy from me.

That "told you so" is even an option says it all about trump. Any other president in history would have gotten well wishes from both sides of the isle.

For me there's only one option: A big, fat "som nam naa".

He is personally responsible for the severity of the epidemic and the  Democrats (or a competent Republican) would have handled things better.

"President Trump and the first lady have paid the price for his gamble to play down the COVID-19," tweeted Hu Xijin, editor in chief of China's Global Times newspaper.

that's incorrect, Trump and his wife have paid no price of anything, sadly enough/unfortunately it's 207,000 dead US people
they are the ones that paid the price for Trump's covid-19 gambling

"Since it emerged earlier this year, Trump, the White House and his campaign have played down the threat and refused to abide by basic public health guidelines — including those issued by his own administration — such as wearing masks in public and practicing social distancing.

it is what it is.... hope it's not another hoax from the left 555

And STILL the idiot proves that he's a liar.......

"Trump, who might be voted out of office on Nov. 3, denies accusations that he downplayed the severity of the outbreak......................."

How can he possibly deny something that is so fresh in recent history?

Beggars belief! ????

I don't usually wish ill-health on people...... but in Trump and a very few other people, I'm willing to make an exception!

a liar always a liar, they can't change even caught with their hand in the candy jar they still denying it... it's not me it's them

I'm just afraid that Joe Biden won't be brave enough to comment on Trump's illness the way Trump did about Clinton's. Clearly Trump is made of sterner stuff.

Biden is an educated class act person VS Trump a no education, no class, no principles, no empathy/sympathy  (will not mention all of them 555)

To clear up any confusion a person outside of the USA might have regarding the above quote:

No, Americans did not ask Trump to hold rally for his election campaign (advertising himself to be be elected another term.) And while doing that a) he is expending the time he ought to have used to govern the country (which he doesn't because he hasn't got a clue how to govern a country, ie a president's job) and b while using our TAXPAYERS money to foot the bill for such endeavor. That is taking money from public coffer for personal use and not doing your job. Two strikes, not one. If I do that at work, I will not only get fired but also face charge of embezzlement. I believe other developed countries also hold similar stance.

Interesting that the Trump apologists seem to have stopped commenting on this thread. Is it too much to hope that they have suddenly seen the light and switched on to reality?

Kellyanne Conway just tested positive. Positive news is not always good news.

Trump when he was told he needed to quarantine for 2 weeks, "will I have twitter".

Yes.

"Oh ok, business as usual then".
