2025 SSA Form 7162 - "Hello, are you dead yet?" forms.
Fyi - you can download a copy from SSA. If you don't get one by November, I'd fill a couple of these out and send them. https://www.ssa.gov/foreign/ssa7162ocrsm.pdf Yeah, and if nothing shows up by November, they'll get multiple copies. -

WHO panel: Animals Most Likely Origin of COVID but Missing Data Leaves Findings Inconclusive
WHO Scientific advisory group issues report on origins of COVID-19 27 June 2025 "The WHO Scientific Advisory Group for the Origins of Novel Pathogens (SAGO), a panel of 27 independent, international, multidisciplinary experts, today published its report on the origins of SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic. ... In its report, SAGO considered available evidence for the main hypotheses for the origins of COVID-19 and concluded that “the weight of available evidence…suggests zoonotic spillover…either directly from bats or through an intermediate host.” ... WHO requested that China share hundreds of genetic sequences from individuals with COVID-19 early in the pandemic, more detailed information about the animals sold at markets in Wuhan, and information on work done and biosafety conditions at laboratories in Wuhan. To date, China has not shared this information either with SAGO or WHO." (more) https://www.who.int/news/item/27-06-2025-who-scientific-advisory-group-issues-report-on-origins-of-covid-19 -

WHO panel: Animals Most Likely Origin of COVID but Missing Data Leaves Findings Inconclusive
27/06/2025 "A four year WHO-sponsored investigation of the origins of the COVID pandemic by an international group of experts has concluded that “most scientific data and accessible published scientific evidence” support the hypothesis that the novel SARS-CoV2 virus first entered the human population either directly from virus-carrying bats, or from bats to humans via intermediate hosts. But the possibility that the virus escaped from a lab leak remains on the table, the Scientific Advisory Group for the Origins of of Novel Pathogens (SAGO) said in a press conference just ahead of the publication of its final report on Friday. Large gaps in data provided by China, as well as a lack of access to key United States and German intelligence reports, have confounded investigation of the lab leak hypothesis, the 27-member report of international experts concluded." 2025 SSA Form 7162 - "Hello, are you dead yet?" forms.
Very honestly. Mail transiting from the US through Suvarnabhumi and then to Lamphun takes less than 48 hours with mail that I've traced. Same with traceable mail that I send to the US from Lamphun. Thai Post is extremely efficient. When I track mail, the problems are ALWAYS with USPS. USPS: Slow, slower, and snail-slow. But? You're out there in Isaan, so maybe it is different. -

Report Kitten Clings to Life: Survives 240-Kilometre Ride on Car’s Drive Shaft
Good one. Can`t remember how many speeding tickets I have paid in the last years. Best way to contribute to Thai economy. In the past I did it by donations for the poor people of Isaan payable in the charity offices in Soi 6. But, hell, we all get older, don`t we. -

Will there ever be a safe vaccine?
I like Jeff Childers, never read an article of his which wasn't good. This part is compatible with my previously-mentioned take on tech, i.e. it's a tool and what matters is who wields it: But ChatGPT pulls up studies your doctor hasn’t read. It explains side effects in full sentences instead of hastily scribbled warnings. It doesn’t interrupt, rush, or dismiss. It doesn’t condescend. It politely answers every question, no matter how many you ask or how dumb they are. The real threat to medicine isn’t that AI makes mistakes. (So do doctors. A lot.) The threat is that AI demystifies the process — and proves it was never magic to begin with. It’s just pattern recognition, obscure vocabulary, hoarded data, and access to knowledge. We are going through a paradigm change for the best. That's just the reality as I see it.
