Just curious, but did you fear the flu as much? Flu kills too.

I used the word "respect", not "fear".  I don't worry about the flu nearly as much as Covid 19 because the flu is far less lethal than Covid 19.

You just wish the man had some humility, dignity and common sense to realise that, if he is recovering, it is due to a combination of good luck and the fact he has 50 top doctors around him that other

Yes, but what is your point? The Spanish flu killed more and they carried on.

Well, that's simply not true.  Some of the largest cities in the US closed down.   Schools were closed, bars, restaurants and in Philadelphia even essential services came to a halt.   Cities that had early mitigation efforts fared much better than those that didn't.

The US is at 210,000 deaths in a little less than 9 months.  The Spanish Flu killed about 500,000 in the two years it was circulating.  I'd say we are pretty close to being on track to reach that number if we continue down the do-nothing track we are on.

In absolute numbers maybe. But the US population in 1918 was 103 million, now it's three times that. So you'd need 1.5M dead to get same percentage.
