Thai tourism: Thais have to accept the opening of their country to "quarantined" tour groups

In yet further evidence that Thailand is preparing to open up to tour groups two Thai media outlets published similar analyses.

Bangkok Business News and the Bangkok Insight essentially said in assessment pieces that the country has to open up to tourism whether the people like it or not.

Polls have suggested that a majority are at best wary and at worst hostile to the idea.

But the two media stated that the people need to understand that the risk to their health will be low.

Tourists would come from low risk countries.

They would come in groups and not mix with the general population.

Thailand's ability to handle Covid is proven and top notch health facilities are in place everywhere tourists would be allowed.

Above all the tourists would be in groups and essentially quarantined in that way because of the lack of freedom of movement.

It was clear what this meant - Chinese tour groups should be allowed back in as the people from the Asian giant represented a low risk category and a chance at least for a return to some form of tourism.

And the message to the Thais was clear: Accept it and button up.

I really don't think they have the first clue. Tourists are not going to come back in numbers when they are going to have to quarantine for a chunk of their holiday. They can go loads of other places

Suuure, the Chinese will not "get lost" ...better buy a few more sa-mart BMWs to track them down.

However, the earlier posted OP said they would be non quarantine visitors, who would be herded around in a group as well.  Why not stop with such opposing stories and nonsense.

Do you have to be so negative?

I really don't think they have the first clue. Tourists are not going to come back in numbers when they are going to have to quarantine for a chunk of their holiday. They can go loads of other places without having to do it, so until the Government recognise that, tourism is going nowhere. Test before leaving home, test on arrival and maybe another 7 days in, but that is about all tourists will stand for.

It shows that most thai have lack of education. What are you worry about if tourists get quarantined and tested already ??? ????

We all watch but I think most of us are waiting for vietnam or cambodia to reopen? BTW can thais travel outside thailand for tourism right now? If so where?

I agree, this statement is ridiculous - as we have seen all over the world, just a taxi driver, security guard, receptionist or cleaner gets infected and takes it back to their community...and we have an outbreak.

Dumb statement to appease the masses. It's not possible.

And a low risk county could become a high risk country within a week, I doubt you'll get a refund.

TAT needs to be quarantined.

Domestic economy is near normal ..do they want to risk that ..to early, for a handful of 'zero spend' tourists !!??

I'll tell that to all the many Thais I know who have no job - "near normal"?   is this a NEW normal?  i.e. NO jobs, Businesses closing etc.?  what planet are you living on?

That's more like the Thailand of old:
"Commoners!!!  Shut up, bow, then move out of the way.  VIPs approach.  Back to your hovels and make way for your betters!"

Isn't that the message in any situation the authorities decide they are right and everyone else is wrong.

Honestly.  This dog and pony show is really old and tiring.

Thai tourism is never going back to "normal."  And that's just the way of it.  But like Brexit.....it will be in the news daily for years to come.

Boring.  Good luck!

Im in macau trying to get a COE and a repatriation flight so that I can help my old dad from bad health. But these people in the royal Thai general consulate in Hong Kong don’t even care to respond to emails neither do they cooperate on the fone.

They keep pushing the STV scheme even your purpose is not to go on a holiday!

The Thai bargirl hunt seems to be almost over.

There's no more reason to come to Thailand for the majority of foreigners.

Getting married and having a couple of brown babies must have been a dream then. More a nightmare after all.

No more cars for daddy, no motorbike for her brother, who lives with her, no paid hospital bills for mom's had heart, and no monthly allowance from Farang # one, two, three, and four.

She can't work in a bar anyway.LOl

Bye, Bye, Thailand. You once were a lovely country, but please keep what's left for the Chinese.

Niehauu.

"But the two media stated that the people need to understand that the risk to their health will be low."

too bad the thai government "experts" and media have spent the last 9 months telling them how deadly it is and to be terrified of a second ripple of less than 60 deaths.

I work with a lot of Thai Drs under 40 years old who are convinced that getting infected is a death sentence

Maybe it is because they are doctors (phd) in ancient history...

Or in Papayasaladology......

I am still waiting to find any evidence that this "virus" actually exists ...

The PCR test does NOT indicate an infection !!! [proven science !]

Science shows that masks or social distancing have no impact on the spread of any disease.

[how could it if there is no virus ?]

Medical professionals and scientists worldwide come out to stop this insanity !

Interestingly all of this gets highly censored in all news and social media ....

Interesting to see how long they will be able to cover this up.

Even more interesting is that an RNA Vaccine is done exactly the same way as the PCR test ... through the nose

Google for "Fluenz" and find out for yourself !!! Influenca vaccine licensed in 2012 !!!

A/California/7/2009 (H1N1), A/Victoria/361/2011 (H3N2) und B/Wisconsin/1/2010  .... from 2012 !!!

How will they Quarantine these Chinese Tourists, when they leave great Gobs of Phlegm, excrement and Urine wherever they go.

Another of the daily Brain Guffs that TAT issue.
