There will be no downside to Brexit, only considerable upside. David Davis   The day after we vote to leave we hold all the cards and can choose the path we want. Michael Gove

  • Why should the EU negotiate with an ex-member, that voted to leave ? They should let Britain stand outside in the cold for twenty or twenty-five years. Then maybe let them back in, if they ask nicely.

  • I see 20 weak  countries  bailed  out by a  very few stronger  ones, how do you see that

The source is the leave campaign if you haven’t noticed, not “remainers”. It says “Vote Leave” and it has that little blue icon showing it’s the official account:

I don't care if it's endorsed by Mother Teresa, Cameron said we were leaving the single market. Don't listen to the L/Cpls, when a Brigadier tells you what's happening you can almost be assured that he will be more informed than his minions.

Every time a remain campaigner warned about the detrimental effects to the UK of leaving the EU, all Vote.Leave could respond with was the Project Fear mantra. Just as they did with regard to the warnings about the single market.

As for your last sentence; I totally agree. Vote.Leave's lies about the single market and many other issues been quoted and linked to many times in this and other topics.

And you misquote and twist yet again. I did not say "Vote.Leave's lies", I said "leave lies" in the context of these being part of Project Fear and spawned by the Remain campaign. How do you expect to get away with this nonsense?

It is not just the EU which has fishing quotas; many coastal states do; for example the USA. Without quotas by now there would be no fish left to fish.

It is selling licences which allows quota hopping.

Whilst we were a member, it was the British government who issued the licences for UK waters.

It was the British government which allowed the British licence holders to sell their licences to foreign fleet owners and put their own crews on the dole.

As far I can ascertain the British government was the only EU one which did this; but welcome a correction if I am factually wrong.

Then why did Johnson sign the WA and announce it with much glee last January?

Was he lying or incompetent when he announced how wonderful it was?

Either your memory is playing you false or you are deliberately misrepresenting the reality.

Over the last four years I, for one, have on several occasions been called a traitor by at least two Brexiteers. How many Remainers have called you that?

American fishing rules are not under discussion here. Now you throw the WA in again as a diversion. You are as hopeless as ever.

If you have indeed been called a traitor by anyone you need to think about why?

eu still insists on all the old problems which cant be agreed to ,,as uk will still be tied to the eu ,still barnier insists on uk agreeing to his demands

Gove and Johnson were among the prominent Vote.Leave campaigners who made promises about the UK maintaining unfettered access to the single market.  It now seems that you are saying you did not believe Gove and Johnson then  because you considered them to be uninformed L/Cpls!

Do you still hold that opinion of them?

Please explain the difference between "leave lies" and "Vote.Leave lies."

You also seem to now be saying that Cameron saying we would have  to lose access to the single market was a "leave lie" spawned by the Remain campaign!

Make your mind up!

You appeared to be under the impression that fishing quotas are purely a EU thing; so I provided an example to show that they are used worldwide to preserve fishing stocks for future generations.

Anyone who believes that the UK wont instigate quotas, probably the same as now, after all of this is settled is seriously deluded.

A fair deal could be better than no deal but for anything to be reasonably fair then the WA should be revised.

I know why; it's not only because I have dared to believe that my country is taking the wrong road but have also used my democratic right to say so.

More crumbs from the EU table:

Quote

The East African Community (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda) finalised the negotiations for an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA)bg-linktype-document.png with the EU on 16 October 2014.

Kenya and Rwanda signed the EPA in September 2016, and Kenya has ratified it. For the EPA to enter into force, the three remaining EAC members need to sign and ratify the agreement.

South Sudan became the sixth member of the EAC in September 2016.

The European Commission submitted a proposal for conclusion, signature and provisional application of the full EPA with the East African Community to the Council in February 2016.

For the purposes of this debate Fishing quotas are a EU "thing". By the time the CFP was modified with preservation as a consideration, fish stocks were already decimated. I hope the UK does set revised quotas....for British boats.

I've already worked it out: leave lies = Vote.Leave lies; although I grant you other leave campaigners, particularly Farage's lot, told as many if not more.

Why don't you Brexiteers check facts?

The CFP was formed primarily for two reasons: to ensure sustainable fisheries and guarantee incomes and stable jobs for fishermen (source).

Of course, as far as the British fleet is concerned, many of those stable jobs disappeared when British owners sold their licences to foreign ones!

If the UK government is able to take back the licences sold to foreign owners and issue them to British ones, how long, I wonder, before those British licence holders resell them back to foreign owners! Not long, I reckon.

the way it looks right now Biden seems to pull it off in the US

as he is not a fan of Brexit or BJ it will not be easier to secure a favourable trade deal with the US

(mebbee Farage would be needed as UK Amb. to the US)

We can only hope this means that both the UK & EU will be even more focused to pull a deal together that maintains the Good Friday Agreement as Biden won't look to kindly on either side if this is broken.

Yeah Biden would definitely make a deal with the US more difficult.

Remainers should be delighted, since they genuinely believe that any deal with the US means selling off the NHS and being force fed chlorinated chicken 3 times a day ????.

It is strange that you keep using the word "lies" regarding the leave camp, as we all know you know everything, so did the remain camp tell any lies, if so what were they...?

Another over-the-top Express headline. Who'd have thought it?

Any trade deal is to be welcomed, but let's put this into perspective. We did $396 MILLION worth of trade with Kenya in 2018, but £672 BILLION worth of trade with the EU in 2019.

There are two substantial trade deals to be had for the UK and Johnson seems determined not to do one of them.

 How so.

You said yourself that prior to the CFP fish stocks were being decimated; now, in the North Atlantic area at least, they are increasing.

I don't expect you to believe me; but will you believe some British fishermen?

Euro Fish Stocks increased 36% In Last Decade.

Overfishing In EU Waters At All-Time Low

The CFP isn't perfect; but it's better than nothing. With what would you replace it?
