Skeletal remains of man found floating by fishermen 20 miles off Sattahip

Fishermen off the coast of Sattahip on the eastern seaboard of Thailand contacted the police and rescue services after finding a headless corpse in the water 20 nautical miles offshore. 

 

The body, that was only the skeletal remains of a torso, was brought to shore and it was determined it had been in the water two to three weeks. 

 

It was deemed to be male but the only identifying features were green underwear and a length of red cord around the waist. 

 

The remains were taken from Bang Saray port for a formal autopsy while police examined reports of missing people in the area to try and get a lead in the case, reported Sanook.

Never knew that skeletal remains would float. A body normally floats because it is full of gas. Would have thought bones would sink

I think that they meant headless as it is estimated to have been in the water for just 2 or 3 weeks.

The missing legs (and possibly arms) would not necessarily suggest that. 

 

This was just a torso that was found, those involved in foul play don't generally remove the legs (and, possibly, arms) but a combination of decomposition and marine life could result in just the torso remaining.
