Crime NACC Leads Second Anti-Corruption Media Visit to Chonburi

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has undertaken its second media engagement mission in Chonburi this year, aimed at enhancing transparency and mobilising public oversight in major development projects. The visit, held under the banner of the 2025 Media Relations Programme, took place at the Ravindra Beach Resort & Spa in Na Jomtien, Sattahip District. It brought together central and regional media representatives to deepen understanding of local anti-corruption measures and foster constructive dialogue with key stakeholders. Mr. Saroj Phuengramphan, Secretary-General of the NACC, presided over the event. He emphasised that the initiative was designed to track progress on high-value infrastructure schemes, particularly the Eastern Region National Stadium project in Pattaya, valued at 327.8 million baht. The development, currently under construction with a total of 60 instalment phases, is due for completion in December 2025. To ensure accountability, the NACC’s Chonburi office is working closely with civil society networks and the STRONG Anti-Corruption Club to observe and verify each stage of the project on-site. In addition, the group inspected the 190-million-baht drainage system project linking Soi Thepprasit 9 to Jomtien Beach. The delegation also visited the Amata City Industrial Estate to learn about best practices in preventing corruption within investment approval processes. Key panel discussions were also held, covering topics such as construction permit scrutiny, complaint statistics in Police Region 2 and updates on high-risk projects. Mr. Saroj highlighted the significance of public engagement, as mandated by Section 63 of the Constitution and Section 33 of the 2018 Organic Act on Anti-Corruption. He noted that collaboration among government agencies, the private sector and civil society had boosted trust and yielded tangible outcomes in the national fight against corruption. He also praised the vital role of the press in shaping a corruption-intolerant society. With the recent enactment of the second Anti-SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation) Law in 2025, whistleblowers and investigative journalists now benefit from stronger legal protections, enhancing public confidence in reporting wrongdoing. The NACC reiterated its commitment to promoting transparency through multi-sector cooperation and empowering both media and citizens to play an active role in eliminating corruption. Community Grieving Wife Suffers Breakdown After Husband Found Dead at Home in Nakhon Si Thammarat

A 73-year-old woman suffered a severe emotional breakdown and had to be calmed by authorities after discovering her husband dead inside their home in Tha Sala district, Nakhon Si Thammarat. The incident unfolded on the afternoon of 25 June and initially sparked concerns from neighbours who feared domestic violence was involved. Police Lieutenant Colonel Somchai Muaydee, Deputy Superintendent of Tha Sala Police Station, responded to a report at 4:30, along with investigative officers and rescue personnel from the Tai Tek Tung Foundation. The incident occurred in Moo 1, Tha Sala subdistrict, Nakhon Si Thammarat province. Upon arrival, authorities found an elderly woman, later identified as Mrs. Jamnean in a highly agitated state. She was seen pacing with a machete in hand, shouting incoherently and refusing to let anyone approach or enter the property. After a prolonged effort, officers were able to calm Mrs. Jamnean and convince her to surrender the weapon. She eventually allowed the team inside, where they discovered the lifeless body of her husband, Mr. Nian also 73, lying on the floor of the bathroom. No signs of physical assault or injuries were found on the body. According to local residents, Mr. Nian had been bedridden for some time and was being cared for by his wife. Earlier in the day, neighbours noticed Mrs. Jamnean behaving erratically with a machete and assumed she might have harmed her husband, prompting them to contact the police. Authorities believe that the woman suffered a mental breakdown after discovering her husband had passed away, possibly from a fall in the bathroom that caused him to lose consciousness and die. Mrs. Jamnean was speaking incoherently throughout the ordeal and was subsequently taken to Tha Sala Hospital for psychiatric evaluation and care. The deceased’s relatives confirmed they do not suspect foul play and believe Mr. Nian’s death was accidental. After an autopsy, his body was released to the family. All you need to do get the financials correct for a transitional period, so for around 13 months prior to extension renewal financials are as per the rules. Immigration are not going to complain you used an agent the year before, why would they? they are happy people using agents
