BANGKOK, Oct 29 (TNA) – Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob inspected the progress in the construction of the new terminal extension at Suvarnabhumi Airport, which is now 90 per cent completed and will be ready for operation in 2022.

When the Satellite Terminal 1 or SAT-1 is finished and operational, it will increase the airport’s capacity by 15 million passengers per year to serve 60 passengers per year.

According to the Airports of Thailand Plc., the third runway is under way and is expected to complete in 2023 after the construction began last month.

I understand that they're not in a rush to open it - since there's no operational need at the moment - but why would it not be ready until 2022? Or was this misreported, and they just plan to delay opening it until air traffic recovers?

60 passengers per year ?,   sounds about right

Must be quite a major upgrade to handle that many passengers.

Passengers will have their own individual runway unless a credible plan is hatched soon ????
