The Digital Economy and Society Ministry has urged people not to believe or share news or Internet posts which claim that consuming the "bubbles" of bubble milk tea will cause cancer.

The ministry, however, advised people against excessive consumption due to the risk of diabetes.

“The ministry’s Anti-Fake News Centre contacted the Thailand Food and Drug Administration to verify this information and was told that bubble milk tea had no polychlorinated biphenyls that could cause cancer as the posts claimed,” it said.

“The bubbles are made from tapioca flour, therefore eating them is no different from eating sweets made of flour,” it added. “However, excessive consumption of bubble milk tea could increase the risk of diabetes, as it contains high volume of sugar, syrup, non-dairy creamer and condensed milk, in addition to the flour from bubbles, making it a high-calorie drink and should be consumed sparingly.

“If you have a craving for bubble milk tea but are concerned about your health, try reducing the sugar or omitting the non-dairy creamer,” it suggested.

For more information, contact the Thailand Food and Drug Administration via telephone 0-2590-7000, or visit www.fda.moph.go.th. To report fake news, do so via website www.antifakenewscenter.com.

Bubbles, funny name for Tapioca Boba...Image result for tapioca boba ball and no it is truly a healthy item made of Tapioca starch and brown sugar with a little bit of food coloring, unless sugar and starch are not good for your diet.

Who contrives these ludicrous claims?

And more importantly, how much of an ignorant dunce do you have to be to believe them?

There you are, slurping your daily overdose of milk tea boba. And you never wanted to to know what these "bubbles" are actually made of? Because if you did, you would have spotted that false claim in an instant instead of falling for it, the dumba** that you obviously are.

They're concentrated carbohydrate balls

So only one a day is needed....like a beer, or a whisky.

Not really, there's zero carbs in whisky and only a tiny fraction in beer compared to what's in this sugar laden 'ball drink'.

One a month would be more appropriate, they've took sweets / candy and made a drink out of it.

On the contrary. Alcohol is pure sugar.

Biggest risk this garbage pose is if you sip to strong, the little ball will fit nicely in your throat. That's neither fake nor news.

I've heard of a lady who can suck ten of them through a straw at the same time. Talent.

Clear alcohol such as vodka contains zero carbohydrates. Whisky may contain trace amounts (e.g. 0.1% by volume).

Actually, Ethyl alcohol has more calories than sugar gram for gram....... So you could get fat on whisky!
