A 20 year old man called Kittichai told police that he was sitting on the beach near the Pattaya Police Station with his sister when they were accosted by two men who were mat rental vendors.

He said that the vendors said to watch himself as the police would soon arrest them.

When he asked "why would that be?" he said an argument broke out and a chase ensued as he ran off.

The men caught up with him and attacked him with a brick that was lying about.

Rescue workers found Kittichai with a wound and blood coming from his ear. He was rushed to hospital.

Police soon had two men in custody. Neither was armed or had ID.

The attack occurred about 2 am Tuesday after Kittichai finished work and met his sister, a salon worker in Jomtien.

Vacation paradise 'sans doute'

Best I start seasoning a bundle in the bank post haste and use the ensuing six months to fathom out how to negotiate all the tedious hoops 'n hurdles

Or choose a more welcoming country?

TripAdvisor should post a World wide warning about coming to a land where free speech gets you jailed or head-butted.

Most embassies already issue warnings about getting caught up in local protests... they say stay clear !

Trip advisor is about holiday accommodation information not the latest political situation.
