The embassy in DC?

Why not the consulate if you're flying from LAX?

Because he is probably living in a state that is within the embassies area of jurisdiction.

  • She will deal with the Thai consulate in LA. The first step is for her to complete a online application form. It is in Thai here.  https://www.cognitoforms.com/RoyalThaiEmbassy1/Registration

. I'm returning on a Singapore flight out of L.A. Did not have to go through the embassy. I can't imagine why Thais would be restricted to "repatriation" flights. They can also stay at ASQ hotels

He could be living anywhere in states and fly out of LA.

But it doesn't make much sense since there are plenty of direct flights out of major US cities into the asian transfer hubs.

e.g. if he lives in the eastern part and deals with the embassy in DC.

Why would he waste money, time and be subject to extra hassle by flying domestically to LAX first?

There are plenty of direct flights out of JFK, Chicago, Dallas etc straight into the asian hubs.

He might have his unique reasons and that's the reason for my question.

If you look at the map the blue states go as far west as Texas. I an tell you that from Texas the airport in LA is a common airport for flights to Asia. Same for San Francisco and Seattle.
