Im hoping to bring a games console with me to get through 2 weeks quarantine. Is this classed as a computer, or will i be heavily taxed for it?

Stop worrying, you will not have a problem at all with a personal games console.

They have a lot more to worry about.

Who are they going to tax? International arrivals are virtually non-existent compared to previous years.

Put it in your hand luggage to avoid it being stolen. If its not brand new and in the box its clear its for personal use and you wont need to pay taxes.

If you bring a boatload of those things, all brand new and in closed original packaging, you will need to pay.

I haven't come across it recently, but airport security may want it switched on which might be hard to demonstrate.

Handluggage, without original packaging and any wraps...no problem...no questions

I brought in a motherboard with attached memory, processor, M2 SSD's together with a vid card and PSU.  All in my carry-on luggage.  No problems at all.  This was end of September.

They do not screen any luggage now...

Are you sure? the xray machines run before luggage collection, so not easy to know.

The X-Ray machines are no problem, unless they use the newest generation XXX-Ray machines.

These will automatically erase all XXX-content from your drive, leaving you with 'little at hand' during your 15-days in quarantaine. ????

(Tax) duty-free.:cheesy::cheesy::cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

I carried the unit in my hand carry and put the box and manuals in my check-in never had any issues

Op is maybe confused about the report of luggage being charged by taxis, and read it as tax on his luggage.

That's B20, do you think that the OP thought that would count as being heavily taxed?...
