I have a non-Imm "O" visa for retirement visa that expires on the 19th February 2021.  But I also need to return to the UK as soon as I can due to family issues.  If I return, I may get caught up in things, and miss my expiry date, and renewal window.  What can I do?

I guess one option is to wait another month before I go back, renew my visa for another year at the start of the renewal window (60 days before if expires), and THEN go back.

As far as I understand, the rule says I can't extend my visa earlier than 60 days before it expires.  Is this right?  Or is there another option to extend it earlier?  Or move the renewal window?

60?

It's 45 days at the bigger imm offices and 30 at many.

If can wait until 45 prior to Feb 19, then best option is do that and obtain your extension and re-entry permit

BTW, I recall Ubonjoe suggest you can approach imm office and explain why you need extension early. Thinking 60 would be max if they accommodate you.

Thank you @DrJack54.  I may have a case.

Alternatively, is there a way to push the Feb 19 end of the window?  If I returned from the UK on Feb 18th, would I get a 90 day entry stamp?  (otherwise, I need to return earlier to quarantine).  Is this thread pertinent? ...

(My Non-O Visa isn't multiple entry.  I would apply for a re-entry visa on exit)

with a 1 year extension , if you leave you need a re entry permit which will expire the day ur visa, (current extension ) expires.

So if ur extension expires the 19th, (the re entry expires as well) and you return the 18th,  go direct to immigration, do not pass go and make sure ur bank balance is right

I have heard of 60 day before expiration with proof of why you need go, but never longer

As to quarantine, nobody knows what feb will be like

Maybe I'm not understanding you correctly.

Thinking you have extension based on retirement. That expires Feb 19. If your obtain a re-entry permit it will protect your current POS if you exit Thailand.

When you reenter you will be stamped "until Feb 19"

Not 90 days from entry.

It is 45 days before expiry date. It depends on your immigration office whether they will be lenient to extend to 60 days for you.

If you are in Chiang Mai, tough luck, they are known to be quite rigid and strict.

I got a rude answer of 'that's your problem' from one of the staff there.

If all else fails you can return to the UK and sort out your business and return on a SETV which seems to be available now without onerous financial or other requirements.  Entering on that you can convert to an single non-O in country and then restart the process of getting a retirement extension.

Not sure if I'm reading the OP correctly, but far as I know you can get a re entry permit and return to UK NOW. As long as you return in time to extend the visa you are OK, in my opinion. That should give you 2 months to sort whatever it is.

Only possible if quarantine not required. I would nto count on that changing by Februrary.

OP you have 2 options:

1 - go immediately and hope to be able to come back by end of January, Feb 3 at the very latest,  Worst case, if delayed you may have to come back in on a new visa. If you are married to a Thai, getting a new non-O will be easy. I don't know if Thai Emb in UK will issue noin-O for retirement at this time or not.

2 - wait until you have done your extension, then go.

My visa office is the Chaeng Wattana building.  Are they likely to entertain an extension 60 days before with covering letter?

What form do I use for this one year extension?  And how many days do I want for the stamp my passport?  Or is it same day?
