Australian passport for my Thai born 4yo son. Does mum need to be present?

Featured Replies

Wanting to apply for an Australian passport for my 4yo son (Thai born / Australian citizen)

Can I do it all online or need to do in person? What is required from the mother?

I am in contact with her but would prefer not to travel to Bkk with her

Any help from those who may have done this recently appreciated

It has to be done by appointment.

Pretty much everything else you need to know is on their website.

It looks like she will only need to sign the papers hopefully. It states clearly only one parent needs to be present at the embassy in Bkk. The child doesn't even need to be present. He has an Australian citizenship certificate and I am on the birth certificate and had myself legitimized as the father and registered so should be fairly straight forward
