Actually it's the Republicans who hate the proposal. The Democrats love it. The problem is that Trump waited until now to act. What took him so long? Perfecting his putting? Meeting with loons to try and derail the election results?

And the 10 million dollar gender program (actually it's to advance girls' education) draws your ire, while 110 billion in tax breaks for certain favored businesses doesn't? Those tax breaks alone are worth 11000 times what the girls' program costs. 

And the Trump administration just enacted a rule allowing restaurants to confiscate part of waiters' tips and use it to help pay the salary of other employees. Hmmm...what President do we know whose businesses include restaurants?

Trump was just venting, he will never sign for 2K, he hasn't been doing his job, has been hiding and all of a sudden just pop out with some BS as always, the stimulus should have been passed long time ago

I quoted something similar to this above. But the problem is, at least if the news reports are correct, that getting that kind of amendment done now/soon would require "unanimous consent" in both houses of Congress... and it seems rather unlikely every single congressional Republican is likely to consent to that -- especially after they spent most of the past year pretty much fighting any substantial aid package.

If Trump felt so strongly , and given that this bill has been negotiated for ages, why didn't he make his feelings clear on the subject ?

You have a point. The money should have gone to the unemployed and those will low or reduced incomes. Including back payments so that they can afford to pay all those bills that have piled up. And their mortgages or rent. People whose income remained stable really don't need the cash Much better to target it at those who do.

It's happening in many countries. The Australian conservative government brought in a stimulus package beyond the wildest dreams of any socialist. Payments started back in March, America seems to be a bit slow getting with the program.

The time to complain about what is in a bill is while the bill is being agreed upon, not after months of meetings and negotiations.

 

When Trump was overseeing the construction of buildings he got involved while the building was being built, not after.  What Trump is doing now is demonstrating that he doesn't really care about governing, just in making headlines.  And sabotaging the incoming administration.
