Why not?

Anyway even if the Scots are given a say in their future and even if they vote "yes", Scottish independence is still very far away and a complicated question.

And if Northern Ireland ever rejoins with the Irish Republic you will need Loadsamoney

It is not widely known that it costs the UK more to support Northern Ireland than it does to be in the EU.

In 2016-17, according to HM Treasury figures, total expenditure by the Government on Northern Ireland was £20.6 billion. HMRC reports that tax receipts from Northern Ireland in the same year came to £11.7 billion, a net payment of £8.8 billion

Well those 'hanger on countries' should start paying their way or most shouldn't have been given membership in the first place...

The man in the street has no say in any of those things,

we undergo.

Every X years we can vote, and it stops there.

After the results of the vote the wining parties ( the case in Belgium ) have free pass.

You talk about fishing rights. they will  ALL belong to the UK soon.

We have had the seas raped and pillaged for forty plus years, a few more years (although it is less ) won't matter.

"bickered until the end over fish - a totemic issue, but worth less than 0.1% of GDP. :cheesy:

We can vote for the people who make our laws.

In Belgium we always could, before being member of the E.U., and now during.

Well nothing simple in Belgium, we voted for a new government the 26th. May 2019, a government was formed the 01 October 2020.

Well if you think it was just about fish it is pointless discussing anything with you. I guess with your name you are one of the ones who will be paying more. Merry Christmas.

I will pay nothing as I live in Thailand (you where the one talking about fish btw)

It's been agreed that visas will not be needed for UK passport holders to visit the EU, but they will be limited to 90 days in any 180 days or 6 months.

So is it going to be similar to a few years ago here where the IO has to check all the stamps and add up the days etc or rely on a computer system that will start a green/amber/red flag system on screen.

Or maybe you will stick your passport in the auto gate and a big flashing sign will light up with

'NO ENTRY, GO BACK HOME'

????????

So what you are saying and what many of all know the EU is not a democracy. You can't vote them out. Another great reason that the UK has left the EU.

Yes and no.

We can vote for the members of the European Parliament, we have no influence in their vote afterwards.

We were not asked if we wanted Mrs. von der Leyen, the members of the European Parliament voted yes or no for her. ( She won with a crape majority, by the way ).

In Belgium we vote every 4 years for a government, once established, it can do what it want.

Only after 4 years we can express our opinion again.

I don't know in details how it works in the U.K., but pretty sure it must be something similar.

We you arrive you will go through passport control where they log the date of your arrival, and when you leave they will log the date of your departure.

For anyone that forgets how many days they have been they just simply refer to their  travel dates and use a 90/180 calcuator

Wife under the ambulance.....DUP under the bus.....fishermen under the trawler....the man knows no shame.....

But fishermen voiced “frustration and anger” as the prime minister settled for a cut of just 25 per cent in the EU’s share of the catch in UKwaters, phased in over five and a half years – compared to the 80 per cent over three years initially demanded by the UK – and failed to secure an immediate 12-mile exclusion zone to protect inshore waters.

I like the 'Disclaimer' at the end. ????????????

So you still might get the big flashy thing telling you to go home and try later.

????????

Edit.

Maybe they could introduce a new system.

Let's try something never done before. They could call it an EU28  or an EU30.

How do you vote for the EU Commission? They are the ones that initiate EU laws.

Or is Belgium not subject to EU law?

That's where most of us have a problem with this E.U. thing.

We experience in our daily life the laws and regulations voted by our government, for us Belgians.

We haven't a really view on those E.U. laws.

Never there is an announcement like :

"due to the E.U., every Belgian citizen will now have to pay 1% more taxes"

or

" thanks to the E.U., every Belgian citizen will now receive 1% rebate on his taxes"
