A suspect has been arrested after three people were killed and three others were injured in a nighttime shooting at an Illinois bowling alley.

(Reuters) - Authorities have charged a 37-year-old active military member in connection with a deadly shooting at an Illinois bowling alley on Saturday night.

Rockford Police Department Chief Dan O'Shea told a news conference on Sunday morning that a man identified as Duke Webb opened fire at Don Carter Lanes in Rockford, Illinois, killing three people and injuring three more.

Webb, a Florida resident and an active member of the U.S. military, faces three murder charges and three attempted murder charges, said Winnebago County State’s Attorney J. Hanley.

Authorities declined to comment on a motive but O'Shea said he believed the incident was a "completely random act."

A shots fired call was placed to 911 shortly before 7 p.m. local time, the chief said, and officers were able to apprehend the suspect several minutes after they arrived at the location, without firing their weapons.

Green Beret.

Probably dealing with PTSD, maybe flipped out, thought he was in Iraq so started blasting older folks, and a few teenagers.

O'Shea says the three who died were all men, aged 73, 65 and 69. They have not been identified.

Additionally, O'Shea said, a 14-year-old boy was shot in the face and airlifted to a hospital in Madison in stable condition, and a 16-year-old girl who was shot in the shoulder was treated at a hospital and released.

Well, we know he's white, then.

I suspect he followed their orders. Drop the gun, get on the ground, hands over your head, that sort of thing.

Green Beret charged in mass shooting that left three dead may have PTSD, lawyer says

The lawyer said a pre-trial services report suggested he may suffer from memory loss as well.

The U.S. Army sergeant accused of murdering three people and injuring three more in a weekend shooting at an Illinois bowling alley may have post-traumatic stress disorder, his lawyer said Monday.

The lawyer, Elizabeth Bucko, said in an interview that a pre-trial services report also suggested that Army Sgt. 1st Class Duke Webb, 37, also had memory loss issues.

It's almost criminal how we (fail to) treat soldiers we've put in harm's way. Between seven and twenty-one (seems to be some "issues" counting these I gather) service members (U.S.) commit suicide each day.

RIP the I the victims but as stated above let us not forget that the chances are that he perpetrated these acts due to his military service.

He and his family are also victims from my perspective.

The courts will have to decide on his culpability and punishment.

A terrible tragedy for all concerned.
