You mean he has been close to some "dirty foreigners", shame on him.

Let him isolate and then throw away the key.

Do you classify yourself and your friends and family as a dirty? Why not bathe more and use a laundry more frequently. I know some westerner dress dreadfully, wear creased clothes, look unkempt, don't shave, have stained pants and have the appearance of a homeless tramp it does not mean all foreigners are dirty...Only some

No, but he did earlier in the year when he blamed "dirty foreigners" for bringing COVID-19 to Thailand.

I would have thought the logical thing to do would be to lock down each and every province to prevent inter-province travel during the New year holiday period, say for 14 days. Then lock down any province where new cases are found.

Maybe it's a case of too little too late, and we are heading for more restrictions.

Here's the full report.

https://www.thaipbsworld.com/covid-19-infected-man-dies-heart-disease-in-rayong-province/

A man, who was among 92 people infected with COVID-19 related to an illegal gambling den in Thailand’s eastern province of Rayong, died today (Monday) of heart disease.

Deputy Public Health Minister Satit Pitutacha said in his Facebook post on Monday that the infected man, who used to work at the illegal gambling den, suffered fatigue this morning and was taken to the provincial hospital on a friend’s tricycle.

Maybe the likes on Anutin and Veerasak will start wearing masks now?

Previously the attitude seems to have been that they are above this requirement. Let the plebs wear masks, rant about farang not wearing them, while the 'good people' strut around preaching absolute nonsense with no mask on.

In the west the Christmas rise peak is expected to hit right after the New Years parties, so expect a surge on a surge.

You mean everyone infected on Christmas, who will certainly have symptoms by New Years, will have a big party and sneeze?  I think the second peak will be larger. Surge to the surge.

Thailand's travel and holidays can have similar consequences. They should worry.

and think on that fact...

90% people feel GREAT, have no idea they have this "crippling disease" but it's cause for shutdown of whole countries at whims of the leaders, and the enactment of any new laws they want to put into place.
Sickening imo.

Goes to show you, like in Thailands case...if you don't test for it and then tell people they have been "infected"...

life is completely normal.  smh.

You hit the nail straight on the head there. Without media, there is no virus ????

"Meanwhile, Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is currently isolated and waiting for test results.

On Sunday, Veerasak had led Anutin and other public health officials to visit a hospital in Samut Sakhon."

And were they wearing masks? Seems like on every photo they are not! (Already noted by Jonny F!)

As the new infection rate begins to turn exponential, it will just be a matter of days until a full national lockdown is ordered. That may not be far off now.

They announced the potential shut down timetable of March. It won't be any sooner. How dare you suggest otherwise.

That is a most cynical comment and it‘s absolute nonsense. If „most of us“ were positive , quite a few vulnerable ones would be dead by now and hospitals would be overcrowded..

There is currently a 8.5% increase in expect mortality in Thailand. Between April and end of July  2020 an extra 13000 people died than in the same months of the years between 2009-2019. This mortality data is taken from the Thai Bureau of Registration Administration. Whilst this does not mean COVID-19 is responsible it is hard to find another reason to account for this increase.

There is more information and links here

https://www.eastasiaforum.org/2020/08/06/lifting-the-veil-on-thailands-covid-19-success-story/

In addition random testing of all hospital staff in 52 cottage hospitals across Thailand between April and June 2020 shows that 3.7% of those tested have the SARS-CoV-2 antibodies' in their systems showing that they have had COVID-19 already.

Random testing for all patient admissions (not COVID) within the same  hospitals during the same period show 12.1% carry the same SARS-CoV-2 antibodies which indicates previous infection.

This report was created by the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, at Chulalongkorn University is shown here.

So no, not everybody has had it. Thailand is doing as well as can be expected. You need to make your own assumptions based on the facts but it is clear that Thailand has had higher instances of COVID than we are lead to believe.

Do your research and don't blindly trust figures supplied by people who may not want you to know the truth.

Once you have that, then draw your own conclusions

every one that went to Tesco in the city I live in were heat tested until last week but now it is up to the people to use the sanitizer as they enter and they do all by themselves that the way to go

Sadly, a temp check misses asymptomatic carriers, some 20-40% of those infected.  So, they're shedding the virus and infecting others without even knowing it.  Mask up is the best approach.

Cases per day continue to rise but slowly,  I still have hope they can contain it. Quarantining Auntin the construction guy for 14 days may be just the break they need.

New cases are being identified, but the numbers fluctuate according to the figures in the OP. There is no daily linear growth as you suggest.

And yet it should be linear and not mildly fluctuating.  We should be seeing spikes but nope.

14 Dec: +28 (4,237)

15 Dec: +9 (4,246)

16 Dec: +15 (4,261)

17 Dec: +20 (4,281)

18 Dec: +16 (4,297)

19 Dec: +34 (4,331)

20 Dec: +576 (4,907)

21 Dec: +382 (5,289)

22 Dec: +427 (5,716)

23 Dec: +46 (5,762)

24 Dec: +67 (5,829)

25 Dec: +81 (5,910)

26 Dec: +110 (6,020)

27 Dec: +121 (6,141)

28 Dec: +144 (6,285)

There were spikes in figures above. 20th, 21st and 22nd.

Before those dates the daily figures were up and down. After those dates, from an initial drop on the 23rd the growth in numbers appears linear.

I don't believe it is a linear trend. Rather more like applying "gambler's fallacy". Tomorrow the chances of it being higher or lower are still the same.

Of course there is linear growth. It begins on Dec 23 after the burst of foreign fish market workers. The linear growth is now the spreading throughout Thailand. This is daily cases and increasing daily cases equates to exponential growth of cases. This is why they estimate 1000s per day by mid January without strong measures.
