A 28 year old Thai lady told a remarkable story of survival after spending the whole night trapped in a car overturned in a canal.

She was rescue as day broke by two men passing.

Chatchadaporn said she had left work in her white Yaris and was on her way home down a dark road in Sai Moon sub-district of Ongkharak district Nakhon Nayok.

A large water monitor crossed her path and in avoiding it she lost control and ended up upside down in the klong.

She could only breathe through one nostril and her body was being sucked by countless leeches.

Her main thought was that she was far too young to die and had three children to look after.

She also focused on her mum and dad and the amulet around her neck.

She saw a vehicle passing but was unable to do anything to shout or attract attention. It turned out that this was her father looking for her but because it was so dark he couldn't see her.

He phone was useless under the water.

Just when she thought she could survive no longer the dawn came and along with it her saviours  - an ice delivery man from Buriram called Somchai and a Cambodian man called Lo.

They had heard a dog barking and after they reversed down the road they saw the car and were able to help.

They didn't believe anyone was inside but after knocking on the outside came a sound in return.

Ruam Kathanyu foundation got the survivor to hospital after she had spent seven hours in the klong.

She plans to thank the people who rescued her properly when she recovers.

I'm guessing she was rendered speechless when they rescued her?

She should have had some Vicks Sinex nasal spray with her. Lasts up to eight hours, Malcolm.

Would've been unkarma chameleon if she'd hit it ..

Why did Lizard cross the road .?

To meet his flatmate ..

Should have thought about that earlier... and took out the monitor lizard.

Lesson learnt, never swerve for an animal [unless it's bigger than your car].

Hey, I've got Pat. Pending on a very similar phrase! See below. For a small fee I could license its use.
