Accident Father & 2 Young Children Killed in Collision with Fruit Truck in Chanthaburi
Pictures courtesy of Komchadluek. A devastating road crash claimed the lives of a father and his two young children in Chanthaburi province on 22 June, after their pickup truck collided head-on with a 12-wheeled lorry loaded with empty fruit crates. The fatal crash occurred around kilometre markers 82-83 along Route 317, the Chanthaburi-Sa Kaeo Road, in the Khao Daeng area of Soi Dao district. Rescue units from the Sawang Katanyu Foundation rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a serious crash with people trapped inside a vehicle. On arrival, emergency responders found a white four-door Toyota pickup truck, registration plate from Chanthaburi, severely damaged from a collision with a red Hino lorry bearing registration from Loei. The lorry was carrying empty plastic fruit baskets. All three occupants of the pickup, a father and his two children, were found deceased inside the wreckage. Rescuers had to use multiple hydraulic tools to cut through the mangled vehicle and retrieve the bodies, a process that took over 30 minutes. The deceased were later identified as Mr. Alongkot aged 35, his son aged 8 and his daughter, aged 4. The lorry driver, Mr. Prayoon aged 42, from Phatthalung province, was uninjured and cooperated with the authorities. He stated that he had been transporting the empty crates from Nakhon Phanom to a fruit depot in Khlung district, Chanthaburi. Preliminary investigations suggest that the pickup truck had been travelling from Pong Nam Ron district towards Wang Sombun in Sa Kaeo province, while the lorry was heading from Sa Kaeo towards central Chanthaburi. The exact circumstances leading to the head-on collision remain under investigation. Police are currently working to determine the cause of the crash. Weather and road conditions at the time have not been ruled out as contributing factors. Adapted by Asean Now from Khomchadluek 2025-06-23 -

How can I minimise import duty on my personal use musical instruments?
https://www.reuters.com/markets/deals/thailand-sign-agreement-with-european-free-trade-association-next-week-pm-says-2025-01-13/ There’s currently no trade deal between the UK and Thailand, so once your guitar lands, you’ll also need to pay around 17% in taxes (that’s 10% import duty + 7% VAT) based on its value—before you can get your hands on it and play.- 1
