PHUKET:-- Seven Indonesians and one Myanmar crewmen have been given special permission to come ashore and observe a 14-day quarantine on Phuket after spending nearly a month on board a ship docked at the Phuket Deep Sea Port.

Officers from the Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command together with representatives from the respective embassies welcomed eight ship crewmen on dry land this morning (Feb 4).

Present to welcome the crewmen at 9am were Vice Admiral Cherngchai Chomcherngpat Commander of the Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command base in Phuket, along with Fachry Sulaiman, Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Songkhla, and Aung Nai representing the Myanmar embassy in Bangkok.

For goodness sake. They have just spent a month, in isolation, on board the ship. If they are negative - why the quarantine?

Sounds reasonable.  Unless, of course, they occasionally brought "company" onboard.

Bottom line is that they weren't under controlled, supervised conditions.  We don't know how many visitors they had.  Maybe it was zero, but why risk it?

So, after a month on a ship they then spend two weeks in a quarantine hotel, after which they are being sent straight home!

Ridiculous.

And no mention of what happened to the Thai crew that were on the ship.

In the link they state that with these 8 crew off the ship it will now head to China. Presumably the Thai and Chinese crew remain on board.

So they got Somchai sitting there on a chair watching these guys 24/7?

Ive worked on small boats and you have no space or privacy...

Id wager these dudes would take a quick sangsom run when it gets dark....and a mama cup.....and ice......and mixers.......and cuties....can get lonely at sea my friends! ????
