I wonder why we never before heard of such problems these exporters experience with exports to other countries??? Or is it specifically the EU, purposefully tying the process and system up in knots, and putting up arbitrary barriers to punish the UK.

 

I hope they remember it's a two way street, to the net benefit of the EU....

Before you belonged to the club and having those member prioritys.....by your own free choice you became a "third country " without  those prioritys ????....even U.K. was a complice to make those restrictions for third country's...so you should of thought of that before by brexit ...becoming third country ????

 

Any warning was classified by brexiteers as " project fear mongering "....so now it became "project brexit reality"

Did Boris, Gove et al forget to tell you that as a third country the UK would be subject to EU regulations once we left ?  All those regulations that the UK helped draft & approve whilst a member of the EU. All those regulations that apply to ALL non EU members.  

Surely Brexit means Brexit and this is the Brexit people voted for ............. or was another oven ready deal promised. Remember Barnier saying ' You can not cherry pick'. We are now out. Stop moaning, Live with your Brexit success .............

Brexit has ensured the eastern Europeans have stopped coming here to do it.

Now I have suggested that the Brexiteers get themselves out there and pick them but it seems they are not so keen on that idea.

The EU is simply doing what we expect it to do: defend our interests. 

 

The Finance industry means a million of jobs and 10% of the revenues of the state. It is only logical the € financial industry is handled in the € zone, not in the £ zone. The UK used to have the single market as an excuse to lead the € market while not contributing. To me it was an anomaly already. 

 

As documented 20% of this million of jobs belongs to us

 

 

 

 

Now the good news for the UK, is there are 80% of the business outside of the € zone and you can develop that. I'm not so sure about the Chinese being OK with that, though. 

 

 

 

One of the many issues with Brexit is that it comes at the wrong time: Britain is supposed to break free of imaginary shackles to morph into "global Britain" but the world is de-globalising. 

 

Wrong move at the wrong time. 

 

 

Add to that: the ugly negotiations, the insults, the Covid-19 crisis, "take no prisoners" Frosty put in charge...

 

 

Now in the longer term, de-globalisation, the UK being nowhere : not in the US bloc, not in Chinese bloc, close to the EU, but in bad terms. 

 

The national - populists in the UK are probably going to find mirror - image national - populists as counterparts in the years to come in Europe.

I'm betting the Scottish pound, once (hopefully) separated from England will sink faster.

I doubt it, I would expect being a small country that they would setup a currency board system similar to HK where the currency is completely backed by 100% foreign reserves.  Estonia I think went this route before they joined the Euro.   The underlying foreign currency reserves it would be based on would likely be their most important trading partners.  However, it might very well have a significant impact on the the GBP as currency is usually driven somewhat by demand for the currency and if the oil is no longer priced in GBP (I assume that Scottish oil is not priced in USD?) , then there would be no need to buy GBP as a transitional currency to buying the oil - so that would cut the demand side a bit.

The EU will not allow the insult to its ambassador to go unanswered. It will cost the UK something. Still it will be worth it if it gives all the Brexiteers a nice warm fuzzy feeling to know that such a petty thing was done.
