Iterview Tomorrow

Featured Replies

Well, tomorrow is the big day. My wifes visit visa interview at the British embassy. The stress is unbelievable. We've already changed our flights to accommodate this interview, so it's the only reason we are here at the moment. If she fails, I have to leave alone!!!!

Anyway, theres one last question: My wife can speak good English, but she's not exactly fluent (mixes tenses and sometimes gets confused with certain words). Obviously I'd rather she answers her questions through an interpreter as she could fall for the 'trick' questions. On the other hand; maybe the V.O would respect her more for answering in English? Is it possible to do the interview in English, but have an interpreter there encase she has problems.

Cheers all.. wish us luck and I'll let you know how she got on tomorrow.

Yes, it is, but for the sake of clarity and understanding, I'd stick to just the one language - either Thai or English.

Having been in the position of interviewing people through an interpreter, it is frustrating for the interviewer to have questions asked in one language and receive responses in another.

Cheers Scouse. She'll have the interview in English but I've made it clear how important it is that she lets the ECO know if she doesn't understand something.

All the best for both of you Brokenmoose, i know only too well what your going through

Good Luck for tomorrow 'Moose, I hope you come out complete and not broken.

Definitely have her do it in English. Try doing some practice interviews with her so that she gets comfortable with it. You may even want to try to trip her up so she understands what they might try to do.

My girl friend talked to a few ladies that went through the interview process and had it done in Thai. They said some of the interpreters Thai was not very good and caused confusion.

Well, i have to say, things got a bit messy tonight. too many people partying;

She never mentioned the fair( didnt have a chace to), her interview was less than 10 mins, and they mostley concentrated on her work here. The woman before her came out crying, but isedently got her visa; just had a hard time.

so glad we applied again and it also shows how much of a help this web site is. My wife , by the way say's thanks too. looking fowrward to the highlands of Scotland and , my mates bands jamming on the isle of Aran and Wales,t he Northumberland moors, and best of all, when we gat sick of it; back over here again. Love the moose (ian)( thats me)( mmy real name) hehehehehe
