Private jet charters from Dubai to Muscat have reportedly surged to more than £80,000 as wealthy residents scramble for escape routes. Influencers fall silent The crisis has also exposed the city’s tightly managed image. After early videos of missile debris circulated online, authorities warned residents against posting material that could cause panic or undermine “national unity”. Some influencers deleted posts describing the attacks. In their place, carefully curated videos praising the protection of Dubai’s leadership — led by ruler Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum — quickly filled social feeds. A paradise reconsidered For years, Dubai marketed itself as safer than many Western cities. That promise now faces its toughest test.
