Neither is Christmas; so that's next on da hit list.

Christmas is different and Thais do celebrate it in the same way as many western countries. A commercial opportunity with a slight hint of religion.  Or if commercial opportunities are your religion then entirely religious.  ????

I figure that in a country where April Fool's jokes seems to be scattered throughout the year in the form of truly absurd official statements and bizarre news reports, a dedicated April's Fool Day might indeed be superfluous after all.

As far as Thailand is concerned, every other day IS April 1.

On Wednesday, killjoys at the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) advised people in Thailand against sharing April Fool’s jokes online and said anyone that does so could be breaking the law.

Talk about a humorless lot.  They're going to need to build new prisons.  Thank goodness sarcasm goes right over the average Thais head.  Sweet Mother Mary.

They should have announced that tomorrow.  It would have been such a great April Fools joke on the Thai populace <laughs>.

"Any one who tell joke online go to jail!!!"  <Grrrrr>
"April Fools!!!  Ha ha ha - Gotcha!"

I tend to agree with this. Every year I wonder how many lives are lost because of April Fools jokes backfiring. In any case, it is a day of deception and a betrayal of trust. Sensitive members of society can easily experience something akin to post traumatic stress when faced with these so-called 'jokes' - especially those with a diminished sense of humour and high emotional vulnerability such as teenage girls and ThaiVisa users who believe everything they read.

The police ban anything that is fun. And they expect Thailand to attract tourists? The General is the Head Party Pooper! Whatever happened to the Land Of Smiles? LiA!!

Clean up any area whose unruliness attracts tourists. Arriving tourists will be implanted with a chip that prevents any joy or fun. And they will have to pay for it.

Just give 'em a "good slap", that's what you recommended, eh Derek...?
