Thailand's Kasikorn Research center has reported that Songkran spending in Bangkok over the 6 days of the annual holiday this year will be even lower than last year.

And nowhere near the level of 2019 indicating a continuing slump in the economy and spending despite government stimulus measures.

After a survey it is thought that the average city dweller surveyed will spend 5,700 baht per person between 10th to 15th April.

Total spend will thus be 24 billion baht or 4% lower than previously.

Most of that spending will be on food - 9.7 billion baht.

While Thais will continue to tighten their belts on all other forms of Songkran expenditure, said the research center as reported by Daily News
