BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministry of Public Health is urging people living in high-risk areas to work from home or stay put for two weeks to curtail the upward trajectory of Covid-19 cases that is expected to skyrocket after the Songkran Festival.

Department of Disease Control (DDC) Director-General Dr Opas Karnkawinpong said even work from home measures are implemented, the department is expecting to see 483 cases per day in the next month. The number is still high so the DDC is going to implement additional measures to deal with the current condition.

According to the DDC, the fast-spreading UK variant has been detected in new infections, with the majority of cases found among teenagers and working adults. About 90% of the infected cases have shown minor symptoms or are asymptomatic. University students are also targeted as high-risk groups and new carriers.

The ministry has designated high-risk areas as red zones in nine provinces. They are Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chon Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Pathum Thani, Sa Kaeo and Narathiwat province.

Well, better late than never I suppose; it seems to me that this ought to have been one of the first responses. TL as the lucky country is looking a bit threadbare now... it was always going to happen. Lets see if that nice Mr Prayuth can finesse the numbers to pretend there are no COVID-19 cases in Thailand now. 90-odd deaths my foot.

That works for about 10% of the workforce.. ie office workers.

the rest of the country have to go to work.

They have been harping on about this for a year now, it is like a stuck record.

Of course those that can , will.

Come up with something useful like use the stairs rather than the lift. Do not touch any

surfaces you do not need to.

Do not use Public Transport unless you have to.

Do not kiss frogs. (Sorry, could not help myself)
