Manager reported that the mayor of Pattaya was just as annoyed as the mayor of Saensuk municipality in Bang Saen.

The pair are brothers Sontaya and Narongchai Kunplome.

Why the anger?

Online news outlets had shared fake news pictures of huge crowds of maskless revellers allegedly flouting Covid rules at their resorts.

Earlier in the week Narongchai suffered calling it all nonsense and posting his own orderly snaps on his personal Facebook page.

Now Sontaya has confronted similar posts for Pattaya's "Dern Kin Thin Na Klua" festival at the end of the week.

One posts claimed that "Pattaya Doesn't Care" about Covid.

He said that the pictures were old ones and completely distorted the truth.

The festival would follow all the Covid-19 rules, he said yesterday.

The brothers are famous for being the sons of the infamous Somchai Kunplome or Kamnan Poh the so -called "Godfather of Chonburi" and long term Mayor of Saensuk, Bangsaen.

He was convicted in 2004 for the hired killing murder of the headman of a neighboring district the previous year. He was also convicted in a corruption case.

He died in 2019.

His sons are two of the highest profile mayors in Thailand and in the news on an almost daily basis.

Do you know them or even understand how leaders are selected in Thailand. I know them and can verify they are highly educated in the USA and honest leaders that want the best for their communities. Learn a little before you make derogatory remarks about people. Just because their father was typical Thai in the 1960-70 does not mean the children follow in his footsteps.

You have a calendar error. 2004 was never in the 1960s or 1970s

It's not so long ago people up in Issan were paid 200 baht each to vote for Mr. T.  Fact.

Since then, Thailand was under military rule, and now still under the the same Army General, in a sham democracy.

What "modern Thailand" are you talking about?

More recently their brother Itthipol, former mayor of Pattaya, was appointed as Culture Minister by the current military government.

AFAIK he has no drug related convictions, unlike another Minister, so he must be a clean upstanding guy.
