Effective from 18 April 2021, and likely in place for two weeks, the latest restrictions focus on businesses and activities deemed at high-risk for community transmission

Bangkok, – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to provide the following updates to travellers regarding the Royal Thai Government’s announcement on the strengthened COVID-19 control measures to contain local transmission.

 

Effective from 18 April, 2021, the latest restrictions will likely be in place for two weeks. Thereafter, the government will evaluate the situation based on the number of new infections.

 

The latest restrictions include:

The classification of 18 provinces as “highly controlled areas” or “red zone” following a surge in community transmission. These include the capital Bangkok and (region by region) Central: Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, and Suphan Buri; East: Chon Buri, Rayong, and Sa Kaeo; North: Chiang Mai; Northeast: Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Udon Thani; South: Phuket and Songkhla, and West: Prachuap Khiri Khan and Tak.

 

The remaining 59 provinces are classified as controlled areas or ‘orange zone’.

 

 

The public are encouraged to cancel or postpone interprovincial travel at this time, or must undergo strict screening measures, which may cause inconvenience.

 

Also, the public are encouraged to avoid holding social activities; such as, parties or banquets, with exception for traditional ceremonies, which must be held under strict communicable disease control measures.

 

Private-sector organisations are encouraged to allow work from home options.

 

 

 

The above measures may be changed depending on the situation and deemed appropriate by the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) under the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), as well as the governors of Bangkok and 76 other provinces.

TAT would like to remind all travellers to take DMHTT precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19: D – Distancing, M – Mask wearing, H – Handwashing, T – Temperature check, and T – Thai Chana contact tracing application.

The Phuket authorities have also restricted "marine activities" so in Phuket, commercial scuba diving trips/boats, dinner/party cruises, and snorkeling tours have been suspended as well. I believe beaches are still open for personal recreation. 

Does closing the gate after....... come to mind? 

Measures effective after 18th of April, bit later you silly sods, should have been in effect from last month.

Before it was spread all over the country with people travelling for songkran.

Wait until they come out with more extended holidays to promote and  encourage more internal tourists to travel in the coming months 

Covid-19 is not going away

Too little, too late. The aversion to the "optics of a lockdown" prevented Prayuth and Anutin from locking down the area around the seafood market in Samut back in December. This appears to be a continuation of the second wave that never ended. Lie about a third wave, if you think it gets you off the hook. 

 

Some of us will never forgive, nor forget how you betrayed your nation. 

How many vaccines were administered yesterday? 

 

Answer this question truthfully and you will get the answer as to why Thailand is now facing a major crisis with no solution in sight.

 

Was rather pleasantly surprised to find my local public swimming pool (Nonthanburi) still open Sunday morning; was almost certain it would get shut down (again). Why it got exempted this time around I've no idea, maybe comes under the fitness category. I do enjoy my weekly swims, so good for these old joints. Well maintained Olympic size main pool and almost deserted, just me and three kids with a swimming tutor. At 60bt excellent value. 

so now TAT is talking about health issues, as if health ministry was still on holidays.

 

chonburi governor has ordered more restrictions in his province.

Beaches are closed for socialising, food and drink, but possible to walk and even swim.

The other provinces will follow suit, against the central government policy to take this wave very liberally. 

The main reason against lockdown is governments resistance to pay workers and companies compensations, dole and the other social security benefits.

And still tax companies, even they are not making money.

After...... allowing wide-spread travel to all corners of all 77 provinces; allowing huge family gatherings under one roof; and returning to their work places starting today.  Allowing for a fourteen day incubation period, there will be an explosion of cases by month end.

Covid-19 is not going away

Govt workers are already on WFH holidays until the end April, so no doubt some of them will be travelling.

Kinda like closing the barn door after all the horses have run out.  Too little too late.

This will not be better before they start vaccinating people, and we need to see at least 60 to 70% of the population vaccinated, then they will be ready to welcome tourist.

Don't forget. You can still get the virus and pass it on even if you've been jabbed. We need global herd immunity with these jabs to beat this enemy.

Yeah! Confusing times. I think we're in trouble for a long time to come.

As soon as I have my second jab in England, I will be flying straight back to my home in khao noi, the very next week hopefully can't wait. 

Can't wait for the end of the month, the beer flu should be gone.

Well, there don't seem to be any documented cases of vaccinated persons infecting anyone else, it's more of a theoretical possibility. 

 

The real problem are the anti-Vaxxers who refuse the vaccine, they can keep the virus alive for a long time.
