Resuscitate a Bosch drill Battery - Possible?

Featured Replies

The batteries for my back-up cordless drill, a Bosch GSR 7.2-2, seem to have died ????

Although I don't use this drill much I normally keep the batteries topped up by charging them at least once a month.

I forgot about the charging and somehow the months slipped by and now the batteries won't take a charge, the green light on the charger just keeps on blinking, indicating that it's not taking a charge.

The batteries are a few years old but hardly used so should still be OK, I think they possibly just need a jump start or something to wake them up.

The batteries were quite expensive when I bought the as replacements and really don't want to trash them, so any hints on bringing them back to life would be most welcome. :wai:

If they are nicad, jump them with 12V. Do this for 1 second at at time and them put them on charge.

If this does not work, open the pack and check the voltage of each individual cell. You may need to jump each cell individually. However, from experience, be prepared to replace some cells or buy a new battery pack.

Yea! I was thinking about the 12v jump, just wanted some information before trying.

These NicCad have a habit of exploding.

Cheers will give it a go ????

You should be able to get the batteries re-celled at Amorn.

I bought a cheapo spot-welder on Lazada and do my own (I do my tools and certain power-banks).

Reasoning?  Like a dog licking his nads, because he can ????

I did my Dewalt batteries. Unfortunately, the fix did not last as they had been left for too long.

Well, after several days of repeated flashing with 12v and charging day and night finally got the two power packs working again.

Don't know how how good they will be or how long they will last as at the moment have only tried them in the drill without any load.

Anyway looks promising or perhaps not .........  time will tell ????????
