PM appointed Thailand’s “COVID Czar” in sole charge of handling the pandemic

When a dictator self-promotes, it is often one of his last acts.

Putting personalities & their foibles aside, a more rational structure in the current situation would be to bring the relevant powers & legislation under the Minister at the heart of the situation (ie the Health Minister), with the PM having - as he should have - the power of oversight and - as necessary - intervention.

In other news...

Government inaction blocking private hospital vaccine purchase despite Prayut promise

https://www.thaienquirer.com/26891/exclusive-government-inaction-blocking-private-hospital-vaccine-purchase-despite-prayut-promise/

So inaction will be the Czar's new Moniker.  His name will now be "Prayut the Inaction oriented Dictator Czar master of all"

Could this be classified as another FlipFlop backwards.  I asked at BNH on Monday regarding a vaccine appointment system, and was told all who responded to the survey they did will be given an appointment once they obtain the vaccines.  Guess we will be waiting until 2022 at this pace.

The Thai cabinet today (Tuesday) designated Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha as the sole authority in charge of all responsibilities and duties, previously vested in his ministers, to deal with the current COVID-19 pandemic.

And he's pining all his hopes on Siam Bioscience coming up with the goods, if they fail to manufacture the vaccine for any reason... he's got nothing else to offer except empty rhetoric.

Right before staging a counter-coup.

Or calling for a snap election?

But yes, the walls are closing in on the general, maybe time to move on to the Privy Council?

Here's your starter for 10 Mr PM.

Well, his utter incompetence is a primary reason we are in this mess now, so why not give him S.44 powers to carry on.

This state of emergency will no doubt need to be extended for a few years too.

Well now the virus will understand that it is defeated, when a man of the PMs aptitude, intelligence, analytic mind, scientific understanding and communication skills takes control, we will now be free from infection in a matter days.

Banished to oblivion. He will then transfer his skills to India

I've been reading mostly ancient history during the pandemic, and of course this is exactly what the Roman Senate of the Republic had as an option during times of crisis. Dictator was not a bad word per se, but the office was pretty much a last resort. The idea was efficiency and to avoid wasting time implementing action. Naturally a lot depended on the abilities of the individual selected.

Lol, Anutin said as much earlier Tuesday anyway.

Anutin is becoming an embarrassment to the good general, I guess this is one way of pushing him to an "Inactive Post".
