Actually there is not that many condo's/apt's located directly on Silom/Surawong. One that is on the corner of Narwatiwat and Silom behind/beside ITF Office tower has numerous furnished and semi furnished large studios available for about 12 to 15000. A friend who lives there pays 14000 and is a great big studio with full kitchen.

Over on Satorn/St Louis area there are quite a bit more. My condo at Satorn Soi 12 has some small studios for about 15000 but over on St Louis (Soi 11) you can get 1 bedroom apartments for 10,000. Little Mansion has several available now. Another friend lives there and it's not bad at all. St Louis (Soi 11) is between Surasak and Chongnonsi BTS which is 1 or 2 bts stations away from silom. Can even be walked.

If you walk down Soi 6 Silom (opposite Duke of Wellington pub on Silom Road) you will come across UK Mansion on the corner (next to a massage shop which has the wonderful advertising words including ' with lightly pay'). Turn right at the corner towards Surawong road and you will come to Red Stone building on the right.

Both places I believe are quite reasonable although UK Mansion looks a bit nicer from the outside. Not sure about inside though.

Good luck

For your budget and needs, I would consider the Sathorn Soi 1 area by Ngam Du Pree. There are some high end places but also several with 1 bedrooms around 10k. If you want to PM me, I'll give you some recommendations. Lots of Farang in the area.

Transportation from here to Silom is a few minutes 40 baht cab ride (always many available in the soi - anytime of day or night), or you can consider the many motorbike taxis. No BTS or buses.

I know there are also lots of apartments in this budget range in the small sois off of Suan Plu, just off Sathorn, try soi 6.

Thanks for the advice, just an update to you and anyone else interested, UK Mansion is monthly 8000b deposit 10 000b, electric 6b unit, water 17b unit, room cleaning 50b a clean! and website www.ukmansion.th.gs

Dont go to the one i rented for a short time stay, the redstone hotel, its very noisey and not as nice as uk mansion.

I will keep you all posted on what i find.

When i last looked at both i found both to be pretty dreadful inside although i agree UK Mansion looks better on the outside and do bear in mind red stone is above a noisy and somewhat smelly restaurant !!

If it means going without a few beers and paying an extra 5000 i would suggest looking at Tarntawan place just round in surawongse road . Rooms 20000 a month and much nicer although it is a hotel.

The Sois off of Narwatiwat also have a lot of small apt buildings. At Soi 10 is Bella, very nice with good security about 15k.

Thanks alot Thaihome, stumbled into Bella just the other day, and moving in next month!

Got my apartment for 13000 nice! Seems very nice and quiet, any late bars around the area? i finish work around 12-1am so need a place to unwind for a couple, near to the flat.

Cheers again.

There is a restaurant just down Soi 10 (cannot remember name) that I think stays open late. Pretty good food. As a matter of fact, that section of Narwatiwat, is full of bars/pubs/clubs/restaurants catering to young middle class Thais.

At Bella, be sure to bring the night security something to eat a cpuple ot times a month when you come in late. He is a good guy. Also, be sure to give the day manager and his sidekick a little something at Songkran and Christmas, always a good idea to keep them happy.

Keep in mind, your 1,300 rent does not include electricity, That will run a couple of thousand a month. The laundry downstairs has a monthly plan and they do a good job.
