opiod pain med available in Thailand ?

Featured Replies

I recently had a dental surgery procedure and was only given acetaminophen and ibuprofen. Can I find a stronger pain med such as codeine, oxycodone, meperidine? Pharmacy and local hospital(small town) only offer Tramadol( not effective) and ibuprofen.

Opiods can only be prescribed by a hospital pharmacy after prescription by a doctor at that hospital.

At a pharmacy tramadol is indeed the strongest thing available.

Beyond the first 24-48 hours (usually just first 24) , you should not need  an opioid after dental surgery. If you do, something is wrong and rather than trying to get something to mask the symptoms, you should go back to the dentist

1 am 76 currently suffering, colorectal cancer, (colostomy bag), prostate cancer, had holep surgery a few years ago, and PSA again on way back up ,I also have severe skin cancer,  I am registered with Srinakarin Palliative care unit, KhonKaen

Below is a list of drugs they will prescribe, one can either attend as outpatient or request a  home vist and start at home care

Srinakarin drugs.pdf

Last week I was prescribed Morphine sulphate 10 mg 90 tabs

Gabapentin 300 mg 60tabs

Morphine IR 10 mg tabs

By the time of my second dose on the first night, I was hallucinating and having awful dreams, the next 24 hours I stayed in bed, and drank soda water water and lemon juice, and ate nothing except a small amount of chocolate, some yohurt and Honey

For the previous six  months I had been taking ibrofon and valium between 10 and 20 mgs, I get my valium no questions asked at the maybe the biggest pharmacy in KK, this was working OK for me but wanted to move to a more recognised approach

Currently I am recovering the side effects and talking it very easily, I will revisit Srinakarin Palliative care, in the next ten days

Srinakarin also wanted to put me onto medical marjuina ,  (I meet many of the requirements)but said they were were out of stock, they sent me to the clinic in KhonKaen, but was then told foreigners even if complying with the requirements can not buy

I wrote to the UK ambassador today and received the following

Dear Mr Bayne

I raised with the Prime Minister in person today (as well as Health Minister). He confirmed to me equal access to all for vaccines, including British nationals here, as just announced earlier today by the Government spokesman. We will continue to press the point.

Regards

Brian

Tramadol is the strongest over the counter, if you can find it. If not Ultracet which is 37.5 gram Tramadol and 325 paracetamol. So you can safely take 3. 160 baht for 10 at my pharmacy

Where are you from? Surely at this stage you are far better off in your country under your social security umbrella?
