Phuket marks zero new daily infections

PHUKET: For the first time since health officials on the island started recording daily new infections during the current outbreak of COVID-19, Phuket has recorded zero new infections for a single day.

 

The news was announced by a notice posted by the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO) last night (May 19).

 

According to the notice, marked accurate as of 6pm last night, Phuket had marked zero new infections for May 19, leaving the total number of infected cases officially recognised on the island since Apr 3 at 610.

I take the news with a grain of salt. A coworker's wife is a nurse at a local hi-so hospital. The covid ward is full. Of course, I hope the news is real

I hope the rest of the country learns from Phuket and things can finally start getting back to normal again.

AFAIK NBT numbers are published on the 19th for the day before. These numbers mentioned here appear to be for the 19th but before days end so could still be adjusted.

This is a good start, zero.    Late-September, I'm thinking zero everywhere.

 

Thailand is not going to lose two high seasons.

and did the number of tests decline at the same rate ?, without actual test data then the above data in useless

 

although considering Phuket is like one big quarantine zone with tighter restrictions imposed than anywhere  else in Thailand, the numbers are not surprising - test data would certainly clear up any uncertainty

Which is no answer to the question. You make a claim you can not proof or even show likely.

test data are impossible to find anywhere in Thailand, but in 6 weeks it is the 1st of July and they will cost what cost open the Island, so don't expect honest numbers here

Right about what? You're the one claiming no testing is being done, I am asking you to let us know how you know, all you show is number of infections. I am not claiming extensive testing is being done, just asking you to justify your claim, which you clearly can not.

How many beds in the ward? There have been almost 600 cases during the "Third Wave" so people in hospital is no surprise.

My missus has lived and worked in Phuket for 35 years. She doesn't show too much emotion but believe me she was happy when this news came in last night. Family called, friends called, friends of friends called locally and from overseas to share a bit of refreshing news. After one and a half years of hell (not just in Phuket of course), many have fallen but those that I know that are left cling to glimmers of hope or rays of light such as this and use it to keep them going.

 

She realises that the battle against Covid is not over but needs a bit of TLC and as many uplifting days / weeks / months as this as possible.
