Did they tell you that you will get your shot between 7th and 11th or at the 7/11 ??

Or perhaps it will be somewhere between the 7th and 11th ribs?

Walk-in vs on-site: wonder how these terms stack up in Thai (my Thai isn't up to it) because the news isn't - despite what some posters think - published solely for western eyes.

The Thai press is using the English words, though they distinguish between "on-site registration" and "walk-in vaccination", which is a bit clearer.

I am now registered with my local hospital in Bang Saphan Noi. I will get the vaccine between June 7th and 11th but after the Thais have had theirs first. It is going to happen and just wait for the phone call to attend.

Look out for the new iPhone 26.

Probably arrives earlier than the phone call.

The mass-vaccine project is something that needs proper organisation with clear structure, instructions and reporting. The UK NHS registrations system is perfect for this but a similar system doesn't exist in Thailand.

Well, there is a committee for that.

Actually four (4) separate committees.

Yes, this seems like the "official" messaging this morning.

Will wait and see what is said this afternoon, though.

My wife tried the Morprom app and was told all slots taken and try again in June. She could only book for Banglamung and couldn't get a Private Hospital. Her friends complaining they went to vaccine centre who had no vaccines and left angry without booking.

A bit, although (without patronising) will Somchai in Nakon Nowhere get the difference? I'm not too sure myself (although frankly, I'm not rushing to get any jab at present).

Uncle's hissy-fit was definitely inappropriate and added to confusion, no question. Pretty sure he doesn't know the difference (or what day it is...).

One can assume in the "near future" once everyone else has been vaccinated, we may be able to apply. It appears clear that Thailand does not want us to retire here.

You are drawing a broadly sweeping conclusion from your own interpretation of the vaccination eligibility hierarchy, as if it was consistently applied.

If you've been here a while you surely know that almost any policy, rule, or law is interpreted ad hoc by whatever 'authority' you are confronting at the time. To consider diverse claims of vaccination priority groups as countrywide policy is naive in the extreme, regardless of it appealing to your apparent confirmation bias.

Finally, can you grasp the possibility that 'Thailand' (whoever that is) more likely doesn't care a wit whether you retire here or not? If "Thailand  didn't want you here" they/he/she/it would simply change the law and deport the lot of us. In that case, contrary to popular belief, the country would not suffer an immediate financial crisis.

Perhaps they will change immigration laws to duly deport retirees who repeatedly and  publicly whine and complain about not being loved and cherished by an ungrateful nation. I for one would not object to that and it would definitely prove your point.

I'll suggest it to the PM next time I meet him for beer.

So where are these foreign tourists "first priority"? In any case, this is emphatically not the western world.

Walk-in vs on-site: wonder how these terms stack up in Thai (my Thai isn't up to it) because the news isn't - despite what some posters think - published solely for western eyes.

The WORLD is prioritizing by risk for all residents regardless of nationality. Those most at risk should be vaccinated first, regardless of nationality. Why should teens and 20 year olds be in front of people 1000s of times more likely to die? And that's aside from the greater risk of on-site registration. This is a PANEDMIC, rules everywhere have changed. Even in USA, nationalism has gone out of the window.

Bear in mind too that the AZ vaccine has been basically given to them by the UK so that EVERYONE in Thailand can be vaccinated.

I and fellow old retirees, and at risk take exception to your "foreign tourists". This is our home and we contribute greatly to the economy here. It is being made increasingly clear that the Thai government doesn't want us here. My Thai partner is certainly very upset at what's going on.

Read the thread, oldie. I was using the term coined by an earlier poster. Personally, (1) after 26 years, I still have no personal paranoia about them 'not wanting us here' and (2) my Thai wife doesn't give a 4x about this crisis, beyond having her daily life unwontedly impeded.

She is MUCH more upset at what is really going on - ie this unelected idiot's continued dictatorship and his bent and incompetent cronies.
