So the third wave has added 100,000 cases to Thailand just because the government allowed the exodus out of Bangkok?

The first two waves only had 30,000 cases.... enjoy then (Songkran) , suffer now.

The other risk is that while  a lot of the population are unvaccinated , you run a higher risk of the virus mutating into a more concerning strain, especially if you have a lot of undiagnosed cases out in the population.

That is something so far down the line it's not even funny.

Any vaccines earth wide that are available are being used.  We can talk about this in 1-2 years, in Thailands case, 2 years.  Personally I don't think there are as many anti-vaccine ers than one would think.  They seem like they are everywhere, but they really aren't.  They just have nothing better to do than bark online their nonsense because not many people in the real world will put up with them.

Good idea ! If only those border jumpers from other neighboring   countries would adhere to that!

Are you telling me a country can't control it's borders?

This is a better recap, I believe, about just what results have come thus far from the Sinovac vaccine, courtesy of Wikipedia:

But the credibility of the above results are somewhat in question still, because AFAIK, none of their study results thus far have been published in any peer reviewed scientific journal, which is the gold standard for such thing.

The lowest figure I see is 50.4 percent and the highest is 100 percent...so it's not true the Chinese vaccines "hardly work" as one member posted. It's worth keeping in mind the US FDA's original standard was to approve any vaccine with 50% or more efficacy. I agree with the statement about having yet to publish final study results in a Western scientific journal.

Nope.

the number of cases transmitted outside of Bangkok during Songkran was tiny, compared with the number that stayed in the greater Bangkok region. There were cases around Thailand before Songkran anyway.

There's only two words to describe this vaccination process, 'complete shambles'.

Vajira Hospital has sent out a message saying that they will postpone appointments for the second jab of AstraZeneca due to be given 25 May - 4 June 2021. No reason was given. These people had their first jab 23 March - 5 April 2021 #Thailand

Smugness is a common side effect of the corona virus. Along with not getting hospitalized and not dying.

Except for the 3 million+ who died from Covid-19.

Just posted on the morning Channel 32 news as well.  More illegal gambling dens busted as well.  We start the week just as we ended it with numbers still moving right along, while I read a report that elsewhere in the world numbers are finally receding because of the mass vaccination efforts. Sigh, if only they had jumped on the vaccines here many many months ago we might not be seeing what we are.

Although yesterday, the Corrections Dept recorded 499 infections?

Of course, where do those numbers get put or where did they get put and reported.  What about the cases in the work camps that popped up again late yesterday, are they in todays numbers?  It gets very confusing.  All I can safe is stay safe and protect yourselves and family.  Does not look like schools here in Bangkok will be opening up for a long time....
