Thailand's Health Minister and Deputy PM was the center of press attention yesterday as he and senior medical experts went to Bang Sue Grand Central station in Bangkok.

The brand new station in the north of the Thai capital is being used as a vaccination center.

Anutin insisted that from June 7th - a date becoming a D-Day in the minds of the Thai public - everyone would start to get vaccinated.

At present he said that was going to be AstraZeneca or Sinovac. Which one would depend on several factors including delivery schedules, he suggested.

But all vaccines were good in the Covid-19 fight, he said, they were all Thai FDA approved and fine, safe and efficacious for anyone over 18.

In addition negotiations were continuing with Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson about more vaccine stock.

Asked by Daily News about reports that the Bamrasaradura Infectious Diseases Institute had slowed down their rollout Anutin was evasive suggesting everything was proceding as per the Thai masterplan.

Asked about Thai PM Prayuth Chan-ocha putting the brakes on Mor Prom registration he said that the CCSA will be working on recommendations for where vaccine should be prioritized.

All the people will get vaccinated in Thailand, he reiterated.

Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson may be able to produce vaccines but they weren’t prepared for Thai bureaucracy, which is a whole another level.

Talk is cheap.  What we need is some action!

Having some sort of a realistic plan might just help with that!

According to Pfizer Thailand they haven't received an order yet from the Thai government
Just how long will Thai people put up with this incompetence?? I must say they're very patient!!

how long can negotiations take?

1. do you have vaccine doses that we can buy?

2. how much?

3. When can we get them

I guess the sticking point must be

4. how much is my kickback?

I just fell and have a booboo on my head. He my hero. Why you people not believe him?

Wasn’t earlier this year we were being told Thailand would get 5-10 doses of Pfizer by the end of the year?  Same with J&J and Sputnik but with different quantities.  It looks like no orders have been placed for any of these.

the brakes were checked for efficaciousness before the meet' so hopefully there won't be any forthcoming failures ..

If you saw the Pfizer contract terms eith the EU it eould ve ckear why no contract has been signed here. Pfizer & all other vaccine makers dont need the hassle of dealing with this shambolic mob because they can sell every dose they make to reputable governments. So be prepared for a very long wait to see anything but Chinese junk or Russian rubbish.

For all but the fortunate few it will be a case of talking the virus to death for a long time to come resign you fool and take the Czar with you ????

whats to talk about ????....just bring them in

Another possible delay could be " would you mind waiving the clause in your Contract that says we are responsible for storage, transportation, administration and for any side effect encountered in the Vaccine "

There,s good fellows.

The brown envelope is the stumbling block.

I thought the Czar was the one to be making all the grunts relating to Covid, perhaps Big Nut is trying to annoy Big Too enough to get fired and then be able to absolved himself of any blame for the current fiasco.

On 7 June, everyone can start to get vaccinated, or that's when we can start registering? I know, it doesn't matter what they say, but I don't even know what they're TRYING to say.

The more people reject or delay shots of SinoVac and locally produced AstraZeneca, the sooner the government will bend over and buy the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson&Johnson.  Right now, they have no apparent intention of adding more  vaccine manufacturers.

I can’t imagine these guys in real negotiations with somebody like the Teamsters???? Time for action no more talking????????????

Got registered a couple of Saturdays ago with my wife both of us over seventy at the lake here on Samui . Came away with a photocopy of our details on an official looking document with a date for AZ vaccine on 7 June more than fifty other farangs of various ages also where registered and presumably different dates given . The choice was 60 and over AZ under that Sinovac.
Then the following Monday told you need to register with an app sent out from Surratthanni government and scan QR code fill in details again we did , no mention of date but just said “ PENDING” , checked again a few days ago same status. After reading what’s now going on have no faith in this government at all to much BS and lack of action . We will go on the seventh as requested and see what actually happens, rhetorical statement.

This news it akin to saying Vanilla Ice is confident we will have nuclear fusion energy within a years time. Sometimes, someone loses credibility to the extent that nothing they say can be trusted anymore.

Are they so out of touch, that they are completely unaware of the sentiments of the people? Or is it just utter indifference?

or... the people who refuse the vaccine don't get vaccinated and the government saves money by not having to buy vaccines for them. Thai government happy.

So we go from a national vaccination programme to a scrambled plan at cluster hotspots within

province to province as apposed to certain age groups around the nation?

I bet Phuket & Pattaya are starting to twitch at this news... precious vaccines being allocated to where they are needed instead of given to them.
