A 52 year old fisherman remains in a coma after he became entangled in an internet cable while riding his bike in Ranong in the south of Thailand.

On Sunday, nearly a week after the avoidable accident, a frustrated daughter contacted Daily News.

"Jasmine" said that no one has come forward to take responsibility or offer help of any kind.

She had made appeals on Facebook to no avail.

Her dad Usaman is in a coma after the accident last Tuesday afternoon.

He has been unable to speak or breathe unaided. He had to be intubated.

His heart has stopped twice.

Now the complainant wants the internet company who allowed this parlous state of affairs to happen to be prosecuted.

She has demanded police action in the case.

Daily News recorded a video as locals in Ranong surveyed the accident scene and pointed to the culprit....

Thailand infamous "hanging wires".

Many in big cities and tourist centers have been buried underground. But that is not something that happens in the provinces.

Thaivisa regularly reports on stories of this nature with both pedestrians and especially unfortunate motorcyclists becoming victims.

Abysmal, absolutely abysmal, just do what you want with no repercussions. On saying that theres an electric  concrete  pole  fallen over near me, it's  held  up  by all the other electric  cables, just waiting for the day it  collapses. Land of  no one cares.

Now if he was found to have Covid, then the government would have taken strong steps.  Flights cancelled, quarantines mandated, masks required, social distancing rules published, random checkpoints set up, alcohol bans, and limited hours for retail establishments.

Lets face it, Thailand allows roads to be torn up with minimal warning signs, motorcycle riders are allowed to pack 4 to 5 people on a bike even infants with no helmets, motorcycles without any lights are seen every day, Soi dogs are allowed to breed indiscriminately, not picked up and endanger drivers by running into the streets, there is no enforcement of any safety standard for workers sandwiched in the back of pickup trucks, and motorcycles who go the wrong way against traffic or zip between cars on both the left and the right of vehicles is just part of every day life here in Thailand.  Though I empathize with this person, the hanging wires are just one of the hazards of living in Thailand that receive scant attention.
