Again, this whole "roadblock" story is a sham IMO.  It's nothing but a self-serving, click-bait fabrication designed to gain attention and make money for the publisher.  Whenever a news story is entirely based on quotes from an "anonymous" source you should automatically be suspicious.

The publisher, Thai Enquirer, has a history of posting such sensational, but unsubstantiated stories.  It's a good marketing tactic I suppose, but it is unethical and irresponsible journalism.

Unethical and irresponsible journalism in Thailand - - never - as no Thai would do that....

Firstly, it’s been almost 2 years. Has not anyone thought to train people for simple Injection?

Secondly, it is not rocket science to make a simple injection, I bet many could do it themselves.

any dental nurse or nursing assistant is capable of making simple injection

You can teach anyone smart enough to pass a basic First Aid course and that could include how to give a jab.

A doctor or experienced nurse could oversee a "platoon" of volunteer "jabbers".

Back in the days of yore, to pass basic infantry school, we had to find a vein and take 10cc blood from our mates, this was to be able to rig a drip in the field if need be.

It's not hard to get this rolling, it is hard to find anyone in power, worldwide, who isn't there because they're an industrial psychopath and should in fact be in a padded cell.

Our collective troubles would plummet if leadership was a calling and not a rort.

Can that untrained person also handle anaphylactic shock?

It should be known as the Pratin roadblock. Prayuth and Anutin. If you want a nation to stop making progress, move backwards, and never achieve its goals, ask either one of these guys to work for you.

Right now, Thailand is the SS Pratin. A large ship, laden with huge amounts of toxic chemicals, being dragged down to the bottom of the sea, by two heavy anchors called Prayuth and Anutin, leaving everything in its path radioactive.

Yes, that is what an EpiPen is for.  I believe all vaccination sites are required to have them or something like that.

There are plenty people in Thailand qualified to give injections btw.  This story quoting an anonymous source is complete nonsense.  There are dentists everywhere and they are all well qualfied.  All those medical clinics everywhere have qualfied doctors and/or nurses.  All the hospitals everywhere are filled with qualifed people.  Plenty of qualified people everywhere.

Probably not and wouldn't be expected to, the reason that qualified staff would be there overseeing the people administrating the vaccines.

The problem is, a lot of this garbage is coming from publications written by non-Thais.

Not this one though he's Thai. Cod Satrusayang is the Editor-in-Chief of Thai Enquirer and wrote the article. He formerly worked for Reuters and CNN

That's true but it is still far from what you could call a fair and balanced source of journalism with its' far right bias, especially when it comes to criticizing the present Thai government administration.  You're right though, it is owned by a Thai company, Thai News Corp. but its' main target audience is almost exclusively foreigners.

It's like being a football coach with too many good players. It's not perfect but it's a good problem to have. Start training more people is the way to move forward. Having too little vaccine would cause TVF to explode but having too much means that eventually everyone who wants it can get it.

I don't see the problem, giving the injection is easy

1.  take the injection package from its transport container

2. Remove outer packaging

3. remove needle guard

4. jab needle fully into the outer muscle of the upper arm

5. Press plunger fully

6. pull needle out

7. press on puncture site for 5 seconds or less with swab

Non, medical personnel can be quickly trained to do it in less than half an hour.

It's a simple case of the medical and nursing professions being possessive about who can do this work.

Medical questions do not have to be asked by medical/nursing personnel clerks can ask them and record answers and make decisions according to a simple algorithm, which is all that doctors do anyway. Rejects of the algorithm can then be referred to medical/nursing personnel

99% of the time taken to give the jab is occupied doing associated clerical work

This is a national emergency take extraordinary measures and bypass the 'professional' B***S**t

(P.S. I am a former registered nurse)

The theory behind trying to produce it in Thailand made sense in principle - but it has been an unmitigated disaster. The delay is leaving untold damage to Thailand.

In hindsight they have never mass produced anything like this before in Thailand, and perhaps another nation in Asia should have been the one to mass produce it.

There are 1318 hospitals in Thailand.

Get the vaccines to the hospitals !!!....

The distribution is clearly going to be different from the raw numbers - but 70 million people could be vaccinated at 1318 hopitals within a month.

If each hospital has 5 nurses - injecting a patient every 2 minutes (x5) for 12 hours a day = 1800 people per day per hospital.

Hospitals have a lot more than 5 nurses !!!! surely nurses can give injections ?

Of course it's not as clear cut as that - but it does highlight how its possible.

The issue is of course not ‘getting people vaccinated’ but the lack of vaccines.

Logistics is just an excuse. There should be no logistics issue - that's the easy part.
