BANGKOK (NNT) - Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanavisit, speaking during the APEC trade ministers’ meeting, assured that the Thai government is working to ensure Thais have equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines, supports moves to ease restrictions on cross-border goods transport and exempts taxes on medical supplies.

He told the meeting the pandemic has affected the business sector and economic growth in the region, adding Thailand has dealt with the crisis by adopting modern trade models, such as on-line trade and business matching, to provide small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and micro-SMEs with opportunities to export their goods.

Mr. Jurin said Thailand supports connectivity among APEC countries by calling for restrictions on international travel to be relaxed. Thailand will reopen its tourism industry, with Phuket to be the first province to welcome back foreign tourists and waive the quarantine requirement for those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19, under the so-called "Phuket Tourism Sandbox" program, starting on July 1.

The minister added that the Thai government is also supporting sustainable trade practices, such as promoting its bio-circular-green economy (BCG) development scheme, as a model for post-COVID economic recovery.

Because those who have been vaccinated can no longer get infected and even if they could they couldn't give it to anyone else.

Is that right ?

Is that the logic behind the no quarantine requirement ?

Fully vaccinated in UK. Surveys have found that if infected, they are predominately getting asymptomatic or mild infections and are between 67 % and 75% less likely to pass it on as the viral load in the nose and throat is very low. I've out a chart on the article of today's total infections which reinforces that.

So they themselves are much safer but nonetheless they are still getting infected and can still pass it on , albeit 75% less likely.

Here in the UK, it was mentioned in the news this morning that Vietnam and Thailand would possibly be moving to the Red countries, due to the spread of the Delta (Indian) mutation of the virus.

I do wonder how different some neighboring countries will be will after the borders open.  Well, nobody's going to Burma.....Laos, I imagine, will be very quiet.   Cambodia.....no idea.   Vietnam (sort of a neighbor).......I think they will be strict for a long time.

One bat changed the world for YEARS........ ruined my short term "cribbage games" where the wife would always ask, "what is that smell on you?  Why are you smiling?  Why do your games always last only one hour?.

One bat.    Likely upset with the falang and vowed to escape his lab!!!!

can't wait for the crazy movies............BIll, don't feed that bat!!!    Janet, why?  It's only one bat and I'm only giving it some Papaya Salad.
