Strict requirements set for visitors ahead of Phuket “Sandbox” reopening on July 1

The Thai government has finalised requirements for the entry of fully vaccinated foreign tourists and Thai returnees, without entering quarantine, through the Phuket “sandbox” project, which starts tomorrow (Thursday).

Several Thai provinces welcome COVID-infected natives home for treatment

Due to the critical shortage of hospital beds in and around Bangkok, several provinces have announced their readiness to accept their infected natives, who have been waiting for empty beds in Bangkok and its vicinities, for medical treatment.

Experts call for Thai government to procure mRNA vaccines instead of Sinovac

The Infectious Disease Association of Thailand (IDAT) is calling on the Thai government to procure mRNA COVID-19 vaccines, instead of China’s Sinovac, citing concerns over the Chinese vaccine’s efficacy against new variants, especially the virulent Delta strain.

PHUKET: Department of Special Investigation (DSI) Director-General Pol Lt Col Korawat Panprapakorn was in Phuket in person yesterday (June 29) to inspect the site of national forest encroachment in the hills above the Bang Wad reservoir that local officials have been confirmed as involved in allowing.

Use of schools, temples instead of homes proposed for asymptomatic, mild COVID-19 cases

A senior doctor, at the Faculty of Medicine of Thailand’s Chulalongkorn University, has expressed concern over the idea of home isolation for asymptomatic COVID-19 patients, or those with mild symptoms, saying that this may cause the spread of the disease among family members.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand said on Wednesday it would import nearly four million doses of Moderna's mRNA coronavirus vaccine towards the end of this year and a further one million in early 2022, for use by private hospitals.
